Covering the final day of the @ptfilmfest.bsky.social, when I met "Piggy Duster" director Jesse Stewart.

I'd given his film a positive review, and he shares my love of @andorofficial.bsky.social, which he spotted among the patches on my Nerd Vest.

Covering the @ptfilmfest.bsky.social at the @rosetheatrept.bsky.social, I got to tell Tom Skerritt that I grew up watching him in "Picket Fences," and I loved his work with Harry Dean Stanton in "Alien" and "Lucky."

And yes, I did it while wearing a Flynn's Arcade shirt.

After reviewing their fine films for the Port Townsend and Jefferson County Leader, I was fortunate enough to talk shop with talented writer-directors Kersti Bryan and Vivian Kerr at the @ptfilmfest.bsky.social.

Bill Murray: "So I got that goin' for me. Which is nice."

At the @rosetheatrept.bsky.social for the @ptfilmfest.bsky.social screening of "A Look Through His Lens."

As a film reviewer for the Port Townsend and Jefferson County Leader newspaper, this is my Super Bowl.

If you’re telling people things are so bad that there’s no time to talk about their hobbies and interests and little joys, it turns out you DO have time for a hobby: being an insufferable douche.

low-key one of the most insidious dumb guy beliefs of the last few decades to gain widespread purchase has been this notion that demonstrating pro-social behavior in the hope that others would notice and mirror it, one of the fucking building blocks of any kind of society, is somehow ‘fake’.

I used to think that when global warming truly began to bite, deniers would face reality & we could act. Now I think it's more likely it will lead to a kind of fascism that will respond to global warming by, like, executing everyone who says global warming is real.

Remain eternally angry that AT LEAST six years ago I started pitching multiple editors about a looming insurance crisis in California and was told it wasn't a real story, or if it was it would affect a small number of people, and even if then, it would be a negligible policy issue.

In this day and age, living in a place that
- you like,
- you can afford,
- you can find a job,
- you have family/friends,
- you feel safe, and
- you *are* safe from natural disasters/bad laws/worse

is luxury and privilege. Almost no one gets to check all the boxes.

So maybe don’t be an asshole.
