Dividing the world into “the left” and “the right” is a gross over-simplification designed to divide and conquer. Even worse is the the part-whole fallacy—point to bad behavior by some members of a group and blame the entire group. Plus, it’s inaccurate. See Trump.

And both murders were horrific.

There’s a reason they call it “doomscrolling” and not “joyscrolling.” The longer you’re here the madder you’ll get. Lean on your community. Video chat with friends and talk about the kids, work, or the show you’re enjoying. And then, make plans to *do* something together. Got ideas? Post ‘em below.

Why are NPR and PBS important?

“If a society wants to toughen the fabric of its democracy, it’s essential that it nurture a citizenry that can think critically and consume information with a sustained attention span.”

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

So glad I cancelled my @washingtonpost.com subscription. Bezos is kissing the ring. Paid for subscription to @democracydocket.com instead, well worth the $

Time to welcome the @nytimes.com back into the subscription fold after saying goodbye to @washingtonpost.com earlier today .... we already subscribe to the WSJ and don't need to pay for that angle twice.
SCOOP: Jeff Bezos’s rightward shift has been long in the making. In January, Will Lewis sent a memo to David Shipley summarizing Jeff’s vision for a WSJ-style opinions section. Shipley expressed doubts, suggested compromises and finally said he couldn't do it.

This was the tipping point after multiple others where I gave them another chance, including the last-minute decision to change positions on Presidential endorsements. There are better options out there. Subscription canceled after years of supporting WaPo.
Another act of self-censorship to serve business interests.

Another capitulation.

In the guise of advancing “personal liberty” the Washington Post will constrain the liberty of its editors to publish opinions not advancing its owner’s business interests.
SCOOP: WaPo Opinion editor David Shipley is out. Jeff Bezos emails staff about a change to Post Opinions: "We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets."
