A few hours after we receive an email from the Provost about another new senior admin being created (including a whole new administrative *unit), we get an email outlining an effective staff hiring freeze. I.e. if we start losing staff people, they're unlikely to be replaced.
Literally the day after this message, the university announces the creation of yet ANOTHER new senior admin position, the new Associate Provost, Campus Support and Accessibility.

It'd be funny if it wasn't infuriating.
We've received messaging from our Provost today that the Ford government's "$1.3 billion" in new spending in post-secondary education will do almost nothing to address the structural deficit situation caused by lack of gov't operating funds and the ongoing tuition freeze. Major cuts coming.
