This is myopic! It ignores the global conditions of perpetual violence the admin created. They didn’t show self-constraint in the “shock and awe” tactics of bombing Afghanistan & Iraq! Or in the illegal detentions in Guantánamo. Post-9/11 discourse too often singularly focuses only on the domestic
I got so much hate last time I said this:
Even after 9/11, the Bush admin did not declare martial law, cancel elections, or put non-criminals in cages. They showed self-constraint and deserve some credit for that.
