The Testament of Ann Lee deserves so much more awards praise than it got. What a fantastic movie.

I’ve watched this like 4 times today
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Formatting my book is such an interesting process because this years-long process is finally coming to an end, but at the same time I feel like I'm gonna fuck up the whole MS by adjusting stuff

My brain is mush. I need to secure permissions for two famous C19 paintings to appear in my book. My recollection is there’s a database (or two, or…?) where you can get images of many C19 paintings for free or a small fee. Any tips? With thx from a person who deals mostly in words.

Question, friends! I'm working on the author questionnaire for my book and I'm not sure how what the protocol is for endorsements. Do I just list scholars I think should comment? What if I don't know them personally??

This is bc of the DoD’s 1033 Program, which allows for the transfer of weapons used abroad by the military to local law enforcement. The 1033 program is a legal framework that brings empire home. It blurs together the international and domestic fronts of empire by militarizing police.

I did this in all of my courses and it fundamentally changed the classroom, the students’ work, our conversations, and my pedagogy.

I finished The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny by Kiran Desai. It’s resplendent fiction. Just so beautifully, intelligently rendered! I highly recommend it!
