The soundtrack is great, 10/10! Seeing the movie on Sunday, preparing for the train wreck.

Andrew Athias was one of hundreds of human bushels of grass who helped make up the sugarcane field setting of Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show performance on Sunday.

Ditto. Really tried to remain optimistic. At least I just taught it in both of my classes, I’ve done my duty and ruined the movie before the fact. Fully expecting to receive email rants from students over the weekend.

I really hoped we wouldn’t be bored but alas. The Twilightification of this truly magnificent beast of a novel continues.

The edgelord line killed me, I live for this kind of review.

“Instances of masturbation, voyeurism, adultery, and BDSM-lite simply lack the smack of taboo.” It seems we will be bored.

One thing that sticks out in this dreadful story is that the metric admins use to judge "success" is tenure line employment of program grads, but CMU's own English Dept. appears to be at least 60% non-tenure line faculty (teaching professors, adjuncts, "special faculty"). Crisis of reproduction.
Computational Cultural Studies replaces Literature and Cultural Studies sounds like a David Lodge novel without the humor.
This is bleak as hell. Who cares about literature when you’ve got computers?

Way to go Carnegie Mellon. Our tech oligarchs will not reward your loyalty

WOULD EAT HER FOR LUNCH! I mean, I haven’t seen it of course but it seems like the film version of the McSweeney’s piece minus the satire. Also her defense of JE’s casting being this is just the world of the novel as pictured at age 14 — no shit and also that is in fact an (the?) issue, girl.

The scare quotes are doing some real (too) heavy lifting. 😂 I feel v confident that there is no way I will be bored, which seems like an endorsement. I really hope that proves true.

I already have a few and I haven’t seen it yet. 😂 (I approve of the costumes, why are people upset about this, nothing about this movie is screaming Robert Eggers.) I, too, will need yr takes. Yr seeing it, yes???

I do feel like this is going be the film analog of a particular genre of Top Chef episode: why did you call it X, it isn’t X at all, if you’d just called it Y it would have been perfect, but no you had to go and call it X, 5/10, could have been 10/10.

“Fennell surveys Brontë’s saga of doomed passion, obsession, and multigenerational resentment and sums it up as the story of two incredibly messy bitches who can’t stay away from one another.”

Someone on Reddit said Bad Bunny has more yards than New England and I can’t stop laughing.

Thx so much Stephanie! Working on it now. The last time I did this there was an image I had to source through Wikimedia & press said no. Any tips on how to make a case for that kind of image? I think it won’t come to that but wd love to know how you make that stick (w a painting out of copyright).

AMAZING, thank you.

I’ve learned that if you screen grab a still / freeze frame from a film (vs using one of the studio’s promotional stills) you can reproduce it endlessly which is still blowing my mind. Everyone will be grateful for the severed finger from “Furiosa.” 😂

TY!!! I have an email thread from years ago that I’m trying to track down that might have some answers, will return with info if I can find it.
