Aus is supposed to be a country where the rule of law & natural justice applies. The Gov’s sneaky attempt to strip welfare from people before they’ve been convicted of any crime is a fundamental breach of these principles. We may as well dissolve the court system. #auspol #politas

Priorities.
How is anyone surviving solely on the single parenting payment in Australia right now?! I’m a single Mum of 2 children aged 5 and 2. I pay $430 per week in rent which mind you is cheap for my area, around $70 per week in childcare. My groceries are usually $300+ to last my kids and I and I’m barely surviving. I often go days without food for myself, I barely scrape by. I’m constantly behind in bills. And I’m struggling to gain employment on top of all this due to being a stay at home Mum for a few years now, no one will give me a chance. I’ve tried applying for loans of even $100 when I’ve been struggling for food and I get declined due to my only income being Centrelink, which I think is ridiculous! If I had other forms of income besides Centrelink I wouldn’t be needing to try do loans. As well as I have had to do 2 “ urgent payments” this year through Centrelink to get by and I think it’s insane you have to wait another whole year before you can do an urgent payment. Sorry to rant, I’m just so frustrated and feel really stuck.

This morning, NPR posted the rules the Trump administration intends to end gender affirming care for minors across the nation. This is really scary. There’s no doubt about it.
I’ll have more to say about it later, but this morning I just want to let folks know these are proposed rules...

The White House plans to bar hospitals that treat transgender children and youth from getting any Medicare and Medicaid payments. The move would affect trans youth who have private insurance, too.

If your "big tent" isn't big enough to include marginalised people then it cannot beat fascism because you're already embracing it. Sacrificing the vulnerable in favour of bigots is not a win and every time I see folks bitching about "political purity", I read it as "I got mine".

Folks demanding political / ideological purity fail to see that this is no longer a movement belonging to the left / liberals. This is an opposition against fascism. By definition it must be big tent. Failure to grasp this: see divided oppositions in Eastern Europe as your failed examples.

⭕️ Report | Israel launches 20+ airstrikes across Gaza claiming Hamas breached ceasefire Israeli warplanes carried out more than 20 strikes across multiple areas of Gaza on Sunday, including regions far from the “yellow line” marking Israeli control, after the army claimed Hamas fighters emerged from a tunnel in Rafah and fired an anti-tank missile at an Israeli vehicle. The IDF called it a “blatant violation of the ceasefire,” saying it had begun “a series of strikes to eliminate the threat.” But Hamas and its armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, denied any role, stressing they remain fully committed to the ceasefire and have “no knowledge of any incidents or clashes in Rafah,” which they described as a “red zone under full Israeli control.” Contact with any remaining fighters there, they said, has been severed since the return of Israel’s genocidal war in March. In a detailed statement, Hamas also accused Israel of systematically violating the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement signed on October 9. The group said Israel has killed at least 46 civilians and wounded 132 since the deal took effect, fired on returning residents near the “yellow line,” blocked aid and reconstruction materials, and withheld detainees and the bodies of prisoners who died in custody. It called these violations “deliberate attempts to sabotage the agreement” and “crimes against humanity.” Axios reported that U.S. officials were alerted to Israel’s planned strikes through the American command center overseeing the deal. A senior Trump administration official told Axios that “we knew this was brewing,” adding that the U.S. urged Israel to “respond proportionately but show restraint.” Envoy Steve Witkoff and advisor Jared Kushner are expected in Israel this week to prevent further escalation and advance Trump’s “New Rafah” reconstruction plan. The Trump administration have not publicly commented, while Palestinians on the ground say Israel has used minor security incidents as pretexts to resume attacks and block all aid deliveries. As of Sunday night, Gaza’s Health Ministry and Civil Defense were still assessing casualties from the new Israeli airstrikes, with at least 15 people killed and dozens injured, according to hospital sources.
