Asshat- an old fashioned term that we use but a beautiful term. It means a bag that’s full of shit.
Trump: “An old-fashioned term that we use, groceries. I used it on the campaign. It’s such an old-fashioned term, but a beautiful term, groceries. It sort of says a bag with different things in it.”

Show up! Find a protest near you- it matters. I’ll be in Catonsville for so many reasons, but I’ll focus on cancer research. I’m alive today bc of past and ongoing research that can’t be privatized. The gutting of NIH & HHS causes immediate and generational harm. It’s not ok! #handsoff

So fun last night participating in the One Night Choir fundraiser with Charm City Sings. We all learned the parts to “This is Me” culminating in a rousing one off performance! (It was wig night as well😜)

The White House Correspondents’ Association said it fired host Amber Ruffin so it can instead focus the dinner on celebrating the First Amendment.

Which apparently can be done best by preventing a gay black woman from speaking.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

C’mon, @schumer.senate.gov, when are Dems going to start meeting the moment? Who will emerge as the opposition leader?
With an opposition party like this, what is the point?

Founded in Baltimore when America was 34 years old. Great read.
Cool feature by @danrodricks.bsky.social: "There have been 43 American presidencies, two world wars, recessions, depressions, epidemics and epochs of social change since Schwatka opened his blacksmith shop at 415 West Saratoga."

Psst, Dan, when will Baltimore Fishbowl join Bluesky?

“Coercion and violence are what you resort to when you have failed at convincing and allying and negotiating. Meanwhile our power lies in cooperation and connection, those of us who are still striving toward a more perfect union.” Great read, @erikhoffner.bsky.social thank you!

"Trump tweeted a quote from Napoleon Bonaparte, "He who saves his country violates no law" but Napoleon didn't end his career as an emperor. He ended it as a prisoner of the British on a small volcanic island."
No One Knows How This Will End (But I Do Not Think It Will End Well for Them)
I can sum up the Trump/Musk/Vance theory of power in five words: "We have power; you don't." Alternative version in six words: "we can do anything we want." They seem to believe that nothing is really...

I worry that the focus on NOAA's weather predicting value is ignoring the millions of other ways NOAA researchers enrich communities and local economies.

There are no oysters without NOAA. There are no blue crabs without NOAA. NOAA trains teachers. NOAA is the lifeblood of coastal communities.

Chris I saw someone this very morning say “we don’t need NOAA, there’s weather apps on my phone”

I am so tired.
How many times do you look at the temperature on your phone?

Most of those temperatures are from weather stations NOAA/NWS helps maintain…or they are a model interpolation from a model NOAA/NWS helped develop.

The radar data, satellite data, every single watch and warning…that’s NOAA/NWS.
