simple point i tried to convey in the post I just shared. if someone does a nazi salute at a political rally, i don't need to do a critical biography or do some deep dive on why they did it. if you want a research project, sure, whatever. but that doesn't matter. They did it. Thats all that matters.

I really wish journalists would frame lying in politics as a weakness, as a sign of a lost argument, as morally wrong, as unfair on voters, as manipulative and bad for democracy, rather than the way it is currently presented - as a cunning political strategy.
