Feels like it’s time to bring back my Gatchaman Batgirl concept from the bygone days of 2016. Just love that early 70s aesthetic a whole lot

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

I'm a grammar Nazi and proud of it. Standards are worth upholding. When I hear someone saying "less" instead of "fewer" with a countable noun, who is Jewish, I'm all over their ass.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

What people don't quite understand is that the unique attention being paid to the slaughter in Gaza comes not because of antisemitism but because it is uniquely bad. It just is. This from @chrislhayes.bsky.social show is excellent:

Please don't call what RFK Jr. and Jay Bhattacharya are going to do medieval. It's not medieval. It's nothing like the Middle Ages. People in the Middle Ages were happy to try all kinds of things to not die of the plague and if you'd given them antibiotics and vaccines they would have loved it.

Imma need some of you to think about thriving out of spite. I had big plans for 2025 and I’m definitely not gonna pre-derail them for likes of Elin and Tromp. I’m getting more involved. Loving harder. Writing hornier. Having more fun. I’m gonna be so kind to my neighbors, bitch.

Crazy how the Biden administration is using its lame duck months to skyrocket hostilities between nuclear superpowers and we don't even know who's really making these decisions because the president's brain is cottage cheese.

The Hasegawa company initially resisted selling an "oshi altar." One director said they’d been in the altars and grave business for 25 years and never heard of “praying to the living.” Several board members were confused as to what an oshi (one's favorite idol, etc.) even is.

There’s a lot of reasons to learn labor history, one big one is that many of us have never lived in a time of real worker power, or seen it exercised. We’ve never seen a general strike shut down our city and bring bosses to their knees. But it’s happened before and it will happen again.

one way to think about the dems in the last 8 years is that they wanted all the electoral benefits of being a popular front against authoritarianism but none of the substantive commitments

This is how you become a writer: just pick one of the things that is deeply wrong with you. Make it a character. Now send it on a self-help journey or try to kill it. Now call it a book.

The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky
