I think people are over-indexing on the idea that everyone who runs interference for Trump on this issue is also implicated. The more likely and more depressing explanation is that they just don't care. Human garbage, but very ordinary garbage, with the same petty selfishness we've seen all along.

They weren't even violations; these were searches conducted pursuant to lawfully obtained search warrants. The law that would make them "violations" is being passed now, 5 years later.
