Doctor Who wasn’t exactly subtle today (I laughed when they acknowledged “planet of the incels”), but I love Belinda being a nurse as a grounding point. Thousands of years from home, she did her job. And her challenging the doctor on consent and boundaries made me appreciate her. #doctorwho

My work is here to say, “How can I get enough good karma to score tickets?” I’m hoping that having early access as a perk will make it happen.

#writingcommunity. I realized today that my current MC was getting her BA in psychology in 2012 in Boston and it took me a lot of research to figure out that she wasn’t an undergrad at BU. She got her MSW at BC. Why care? I almost made two books’ MCs college roommates. Conversation could be 1/2

Years ago, a friend said, “if you need to fix Kaki, bring her to water.” This is why my self-care is often along the Charles River. #photography

#fanfic I remember the day my friend asked me to write her a story where Bail Organa told Darth Vader that his daughter’s birth mother was Padme to save her from the Empire. Did not expect to get to that scene and then go, “oh, crap. I have to write the rest of the war with this context.” The 1/2

Happy Asexual Awareness Day. Im demisexual, which falls under that umbrella. So was my first novel’s protagonist. We’re here. We’re real. We’re not weird, alien, or robot as has been suggested by people I know.

Back when I started #writing a character, a friend introduced me to “Orpheus.” It fit the love story of this person and her husband perfectly. Yesterday, I realized that “if the bottom drops out, I hope my love is someone else’s solid ground” is about the story of her adopted daughter. I cried.

#writingcommunity I have to admit that I’m trying to not be afraid of my WIP. This isn’t the first book I’ve written. It’s my first murder mystery. But I have so many things hiding under the surface of the premise that it feels like a potentially awful lasagna instead of a nuanced tale.

I’m going to hell for having this much fun writing this. But all those quotes are from real interviews and you should look up Tim’s 2012 prank. Apologies to Claudia Gray and Mark Hamill in a sorry/not sorry style.

Here's my message this #TransDayOfVisibility: Our power begins and ends with the solidarity we have with one another.

My sister claimed that people and sunsets are more beautiful than photos depict. My sunset from last night disagrees. I’m very fond of it.

I spent a little too much time reading about Han Solo’s rich stepfather and the Cloud People while reading up on Leigh Brackett, but boy, did I enjoy this list.

From an editor and a writer, to a composer and a president, we pay tribute to some of the women who shaped a galaxy far, far away into what it is today.

The detention of Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk is so appalling. No, I don’t think arresting other foreigners is okay. Don’t at me. I am anti-fa and this fascism is unchecked. They weren’t stopped by a federal judge’s orders. This is the grudge tyranny that we opposed and we’re keeping track.

I have two decisions coming. One says by March 17 and the other by April 1. I am apoplectic with anxiety about both. The March 17 one is just about community stuff I hope to be involved in, but for the other, I am waiting to hear if music that I’ve written will be in a new hymnbook. So nervous.

This is a simple picture of me wearing a nice ballet flat. But it’s progress. I’ve been dependent on various ankle braces since my fracture on September 20 and I still have days when I need to wear a big slipper over a brace, but I’m wearing these shoes to the ballet on Saturday.

I’m several chapters into Mask of Fear and I respect how well Alexander Freed seems to historically have done his homework on the nature of dictatorships, but I’m deeply depressed by resemblance to current events. On the bright side, I wrote to my friend that someone FINALLY got Bail Organa right!

1. Major exclusive breaking news: Marco Rubio may have just banned trans foreigners seeking visas with correct gender markers from US Entry.

A new cable, effective immediately, says visas must contain assigned sex at birth and should be rejected if they don't.

True story: because of court dates, my marriage ended on the same day as the Skywalkers’. Just 8 hours later and much less dramatically. I went to a midnight showing and then got up and went to tell a judge that my husband was a danger to me.

New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.
