This is all the legislature's fault btw. Always keep your hate for them burning the fiercest. It all comes back to them.

Do not extrapolate that to the people who put them there, however.

Been 5 months now since I switched to Linux (Ubuntu 25.04), 2 minor issues (1 specific to my weird setup, 1 is the Steam context-menu issue which is widely known, but doesn't stop me working around it). Games mostly run fine, no issues. In fact, no games had issues, even some of the niche ones.

Finally starting Clair Obscur Expedition 33. That start is something isn't it, oof. Tbh I wasn't sure if I was ready for an RPG, but here we are.

Friend in discord linked me to "Tower Networking Inc" couple weeks ago. I of course bought it, I have a background in networking. Early access, but has real vibes to it. Has a CLI you have to learn, pick the right gear for the job, and with every new floor (which is endless) you have to improvise.

"Age verification" laws are actually "upload your ID or get your face scanned to access every website, ending anonymity and associating your identity with everything you do online" laws and if more people understood that they would not be down for this authoritarian nonsense

I've done it 4 times but really tempted to play through Starfox Adventures 2- I mean the WoW BFA Zandalar campaign once more before Midnight launch. Fancy trying a Tank or Healer role, never done either. The Arrival to Zandalar cutscene is STILL awesome even now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc30...

Been away for a while? Or just starting fresh? The gates of Azeroth are wide open.

It’s easier to jump in, quicker to get geared, and start adventuring 🧙‍♂️✨

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Fucking outstanding. Hard decisions were made. Wasn't sure if I made the right choices initially, but I was certain by the end.

Schemes to validate adults and their IDs are possible but they will NOT be run by those capable. All private data exposure is itself a breach already.

The UK Online Safety Act 2025 should be repealed and abolished and I've put my name to a gov petition to make it happen. Data collection services are ready for this attack on freedom of expression also! Sure I'll hand over a face scan and my credit card over to a company I've never heard of.

Something I've become annoyed by in the last several years is popup messages, either showing me how to use an app (surely your app is intuitive enough?), asking me to subscribe when I move my mouse to top of page or reach the bottom of an article (whilst I'm still reading), or adverts, or surveys.

I'm glad that Steam indicates which games use Denuvo, not sure if it's a requirement to disclose but I'm glad its there. Helps me make informed choices, avoid Denuvo like the plague. Means I just haven't played certain titles at all, but I ain't supporting Denuvo, fuck that.

Looking at the recent gaming news re Nintendo, seeing more and more people opting to boycott Nintendo over the Nintendo EULA forced arbitration add and now giving themselves the right to DESTROY YOUR property is a welcome sight, and long overdue... I've been boycotting them for a good while.

Nearly ready to move full-time to Linux. Games was the last major barrier to the move, but Valve fixed that now. Windows and M365 Business are such user-hostile platforms these days, the constant data gathering, changing of UIs and reinstalls of Copilot, wow. Win2k Pro was peak MS.

Was considering BambuLab as my first 3D printer right up until all this stuff started a couple months back. Of course yet another company that attempts to redefine the word 'security' when it was pretty secure when it wasn't tethered to a cloud and local only. The brand is now toxic.

That thread was written a couple days ago, but to be honest I've had years and years thinking of what replaces IP law if it went away as IP law disproportionately benefits 2 groups, corporations (rent-seeking) and small artists of any type (to live), how do we remove protection for corporations?
April 19, 2025 at 9:02 AM
A discussion around abolition of IP laws has begun - excellent, finally people see the capitalist gravy train and global-scale monopolisation and gatekeeping of human knowledge for what it is.

I started playing OG Subnautica again on Friday, had a big session yesterday and I'm not only surprised at how extremely well replays hold up but how the challenge changes. It's been 2 years since I last played it, and I'm 6 or 7 hours in and I'm like WHERE IS THE CAVE SULPHUR FOR THE REPAIR TOOL

Really wish companies didn't play fast and loose with peoples data, EU Commission and UK ICO really need to crack down on this and force opt-in. Everything else requires explicit and freely given consent, so why does EU GDPR or the UK Data Protection Act allow this and how can that be changed?
eBay have changed their terms of service and you're automatically opted-in for your personal data to be used for AI development and training.
To turn this off, sign into your account click on the Hi (your name)! > My eBay > Account > AI training preferences and you can toggle off the permission.

10 hour power outage baby. I've been in this house 2 years and this is unheard of. 2 minutes sure, 15 minutes last record but this is new. Back to considering solar and battery off-grid power.

I wonder if over the last few years if there's been a jump in the amount of people moving from being an employee to running their own business or consultancy to get away from the work place/be their own boss/make their own rules. Considering consultancy or IT Management/Director roles.

Every time I look at LinkedIn, man. So many people licking each others boots, having ChatGPT write their faux positivity posts, some outing themselves as toxic bell-ends you would never want to work for in a million years, office politics encouragement and much more.
