And- that capitulating doesn’t change perception. Agreeing that there is a bias would give justification for anti-NPR ire. The communications/leadership work is being able to explain that NPR’s values are mainstream.
The key thing to understand in this story is not just that Katherine is the kind of leader we want to see more of, standing up on principle, but that when you do so, you will face as much opposition from your ostensible allies as from the fascists you’re fighting. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/30/b...

the only thing musk should be remembered for
Difficult to overstate how profound a failure DOGE was. Spending in FY2025 was not only than in FY2024 – but higher than it was projected to be when Trump first took office.*

The little bit of spending DOGE cut has already killed hundreds of thousands and will eventually lead to millions of deaths.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

Meanwhile, here's an example of the horrendous things found in Hillary Clinton's emails—the only story worth covering for any serious news outlet in 2016, apparently.

This email is also regarding a child who suffered abuse from a grown man.

What the cavers miss and what Tuesday showed is that people want to be in the fight. There is a massive outpouring of support to fund and feed SNAP recipients. Food, housing, job transitions are geared at furloughed and fired workers. We do not want to go gently into that fascist night.

4k families get their jobs back for 24m people to lose healthcare which, in a crisis, is far more costly than any job loss. @kaine.senate.gov was one time planning to be the VP of all the United States. How disappointing to now protect only those he knows.

When you book a flight through major travel sites, a data broker owned by U.S. airlines will sell details about your flight—your name, credit card used, and where you’re flying to the government.

We found out how to opt-out of ARC selling your travel data. A guide:

How to Opt-Out of Airlines Selling Your Travel Data to the Government
The Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC), owned by major U.S. airlines, collects billions of ticketing records and sells them to the government to be searched without a warrant. I managed to opt-out…

All day, many of you have been asking for a Cheney obituary from me. Get ready:

As much as the Trumpists claim to disavow the War on Terror, they walk a path paved by the most powerful vice president in U.S. history.

The way it works is that you strip fundamental rights from targets with less political support that people will turn their consciences off to justify persecuting and then eventually the state can do it to anyone, that’s always been the plan bsky.app/profile/pbum...
Setting aside the incredibly dangerous and fascist aspect of this, is there actual evidence that Khalil was a “Hamas supporter”? Or is the standard for a green-card holder being sent to a secret location and possibly deported just “critical of Israel”?
