Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

🚨Georgia prosecutors dropped charges against the 24-year-old woman they **arrested over a miscarriage**—but only because people spoke up and demanded it.

We cannot let these stories be ignored or normalized—that’s what Republicans counting on. We have to keep speaking up.
Right now a woman in Georgia—who was found bleeding and unconscious outside her apartment—is sitting behind bars for MISCARRYING.

And now Republicans in 11 states are pushing bills to punish women who have abortions as murderers.

SPEAK OUT—they're hoping you don't notice.

I had not heard of this book but now I am going to read it tonight.
WaPo's Ron Charles, in his Book Club newsletter, on Meta's repeated questions about his plans to review Sarah Wynn-Williams's "Careless People":

"In my 27 years of reviewing and editing newspaper books sections, no company has ever done this with me."

imagine making such a show of pretending to care about children's safety (just an obvious front for anti-LGBTQ bigotry) and letting your child talk to a human fucking trafficker

In addition to admiring folx that lead the way for actual change, we need to learn from them. They didn’t suffer and put their lives on the line to see everything they worked for torn apart. We all need to be advocates now.
The idea that a political party must do more dramatic things in response to defeat is not new to the social media age. New bio of John Lewis describes his approach to Newt Gingrich et al taking the House in 1994.

Lewis applied Civil Rights era lessons and a willingness to burst norms to hurt Newt.

Thank you @chrisreykdal.bsky.social and for this message. I was born and raised in WA, educated in k-12 public schools, and received my BA and MA from WSU. I’ve only ever attended and taught at public universities because I believe ALL kids (and adults) deserve a quality education.

Yep. I couldn’t have described it better myself.
"It's almost impossible to believe he exists.
It's as if you took everything that was bad about America, scraped it off the floor, put it in an old hot dog skin & taught it to make noises with its mouth"

Huh…weird. I wonder what happened in January to make this happen. So weird. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Inflation remained stubbornly high in January, as grocery, gasoline and shelter costs all rose. Egg prices saw their biggest price hike in almost a decade.

This is so embarrassing. Please make it stop.
During his flight to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl on Sunday, President Donald Trump signed a proclamation declaring Feb. 9 “the first ever Gulf of America Day” as Air Force One flew over the body of water that he ordered to be renamed from the Gulf of Mexico.

I hear people complain that the U.S. should help those in need domestically before sending aid elsewhere. So, the geniuses of this admin have decided to take USAID funding AND take control of payment systems of domestic humanitarian aid (like Medicaid) so everyone suffers. MAKE THIS MAKE SENSE
Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday told an official with USAID that foreign aid was "the least popular thing government spends money on" and had become increasingly difficult to defend, according to a transcript of a private embassy event.
