basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

Pour one out for one of the best Bluesky posts of all time
Eric Adams is amazing because when he won every media person was leaping over each to go “this is the normal sane leadership that the political left doesn’t understand normal sane Americans crave” and then every day since that Eric Adams has been like “Leprechauns are real and I’m going to cook one”

absolutely nuts to feel joyous about a political moment, for the first time in years and years 😭
In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.

not to expose myself as insufficiently cynical but I’m actually kind of shocked at how bad this is across multiple levels—as a piece of analysis, as a piece of rhetoric, and as a deployment of the NYT’s outsized power in this specific instance

Wow, NYTimes be like, “Andrew Cuomo is our problematic fave."

The editorial board willfully misunderstands something I figured out in early adulthood: that sexual harassment tells you everything about someone’s relationship with power, and on its own, ought to be enough to disqualify from office.
NYT Editorial board effectively endorses Andrew Cuomo today in the most weaselly possible way. “Don’t rank Mamdani, and it will probably be either him or Cuomo, sooo…”

Happy #MSWL day! Working with a decent amount of nonfiction now, so would love voice-driven upmarket fiction to balance it out. Always enjoy a splash of genre and weirdness with a heart (MARGO'S GOT MONEY TROUBLES; THE WEDDING PEOPLE, etc.) Full wishlist:

hire @marinafang.bsky.social for her brilliant reporting work, strong convictions, and the fact that now feels like a particularly dumb time to be laying off journalists given literally everything around us
I wrote a long goodbye email because I’ve earned that right. Debated whether to get spicy and say the part below, but I am a big believer in calling things what they are.

Please support journalists. You’ll miss journalism when it’s gone.
