Fascism is a spectrum, and our governing institutions are on it.

Component parts of The Establishment, such as the prime minister, the police, the mainstream media, may occupy different positions on that spectrum, but they're all on it.
The rest of us? We're under it. #CouldHaveHad
I was an eyewitness to events on Saturday. The Metropolitan force are lying when they claim ex-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and MP John McDonnell forced their way through a police cordon.

Donald Trump made $56 billion this weekend off a meme coin.

As I wrote in this month's @bylinetimes.bsky.social, the crypto industry may brand itself as an emancipatory force for good – but at its core, its institutionalised fraud.

Is it time to ban second jobs for MPs?
MP’s second jobs are institutionalised bribery. They should be banned.

We need Europe-wide controls on social media and on political donations now.
Like yesterday now.

Instead, we'll get dissembling, prevarication, and Trump appeasement.

It's feeling very much like we are all truly fucked.

Political donations are institutionalized bribery.

Donors get access to policymakers, shape laws, tax privileges, lax regulations, govt contracts/subsidies, honours, power.

Banning political donations is a necessary step for free and fair elections and democracy

The only effective remedy is to ban all private donations, or bribes, to political parties.

Curse of Private Equity

PE has devoured water companies, transport systems, communications networks, power providers, schools/hospitals through the PFI scheme.

Govts are handing GP surgeries, dental services & the NHS to it.

Result will be the same. Govts serve money not people.

Our counts shouldn't be in money and goods, but how many homeless have been housed, how many poor have been pulled from poverty, how many kids are going hungry.
I hope one day that will be the case
Every Xmas & new year the media mark how good we are doing as a society by the amount of things shops manage to sell us.

Not by peace, scientific or medical progress or kindness.

What a sad, tragic, venal, materialistic and cold way to measure humanity.
