I don’t think that’s what he meant. I interpreted it as he is going to inform his decisions with evidence, coming from econometric analysis. Perhaps I’m wrong though?
The key to understanding Carney‘s politics is, as an economist, he sees the world in terms of models. That’s what he meant when he promised to “govern in econometrics.” But that only works when a) your model somewhat reflects reality, and b) one remembers that models are simplifications of reality.
Will Carney’s budget finally reveal where the prime minister is taking Canada?

I think it's standard scientific practice to do a cross-country correlation, assume the relationship is causal, have the president tell everyone not to use a specific medicine, and then follow up with some studies to hopefully prove it. Isn't it?

Got a bit worried when I first read this headline as a person who drank 6-8 cans of artificially sweetened pop every day for 20 years. Good to know it’s BS and my cognitive ability will remain steady at a grade 5 level.
