As horrific as the death and devastation in Gaza have been, the Israeli state's drive to annex and depopulate the West Bank, spearheaded by Jewish supremacist settlers and the army, promises its own particular kind of horror:

Israel announced that they will bomb two villages in Southern Lebanon

That’s how they do it. They tell you that they will violate the ceasefire for the thousandth time, and there will be no consequences.

Latest count showed at least 13 killed.

It is the first strike on Ain al-Hilweh (Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp) since last November’s ceasefire. Israel previously struck there in last year’s war.

The attack comes amid Israeli threats of a military escalation on Lebanon
Israel just hit the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, Ain al Hilweh, with missiles.

It’s a dense camp with the presence of many Palestinian factions but also many civilians.

Covering Jamal Khashoggi's murder was one of the most disturbing things I've worked on. Hearing Trump say he was "extremely controversial" and people "didn't like him" is chilling. Hard to take any other way than he thinks there is moral ambiguity in the murder of a journalist.

I once again ask Americans to stop using Palestinian and Lebanese deaths to make your little political digs.
I thought Trump ended that war.

Judging by the Israeli Air Force’s footage, they dropped two bombs right after each other on the place.

My students tell me that this stuff is no longer going viral on their social media accounts.

With the ceasefire, the "normal" violence just receded into the background again.

A reminder that seven years ago almost to the day, the CIA determined that Mohammed Bin Salman ordered the killing of @washingtonpost.com journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

I hired and worked with Jamal for a year.

I am devoting much of my energy (especially outside of work hours) to opposing this and investigating the ways to organise and counter the forces imposing this. As with all else, I am not expecting success but the work is the purpose.

This is in essence what the US regional security architecture is all about: vassalize yourself to Israel and the Gulf states, surrender all sovereignty, and you maybe won't get bombed. Or maybe you will anyway.

The threat Turkey poses to Israel is no less dangerous and complex than Iran—but it’s much harder to handle.
