This sort of societal level opprobrium will be difficult in that it's quite alien to American culture. But in a similar manner to the way we created a taboo around vulgar racism over the last ~50 years, we need to create a similar taboo around illiberalism.

What I find particularly galling about these ‘anti-wokeness limits your career’ takes is how they erase a number of thriving and respected thinkers, writers and academics who have been writing in serious and pioneering ways about identity for a while, and from whom I have benefited hugely.
