I would really love to hear from absolutely anyone why billionaires need tax cuts more than children need food.

Go on. Explain.

Anthony Albanese has called for fixed four year terms. Makes sense to me.
If you agree, RT.
Disagree, "like"?

JobSeeker pays $20K/year, the Age Pension $30K/year.

In contrast, fossil fuel subsidies totalling $14.5B/year, benefiting 276K mining & industry workers at $52.5K each.

Welfare supports millions in need, yet subsidies heavily favor a small industry, highlighting stark funding disparities.

Can we start extracting a climate catastrophe levy from all fossil fuel magnates now?
Ya know,to adequately fund/resource specialist forces to fight fires, floods etc
Instead of $$$ going to the military industrial complex which is ensuring expansionist states like US get more fossil fuels

🤓 in just 6 years, australia's two main grids added 51 TWh/yr of wind+solar generation.

…taking us from 19.9% → 38.8% renewables.

…this is equivalent to 6.6 large #nuclear reactors, but at much lower cost & much faster.

…even more impressive given there's no chance of nuclear here for 20+ years.

an hour ago, france connected its first nuclear reactor to the grid this century.

construction was to take 56 months.

timeline:
• decision: 2004
• initial works: 2006
• reactor concrete: 2007
• grid connection: 2024
• commercial operation: 2025Q1

…20+ years end to end.

On this date in 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked by the imperial forces of Japan. The loss of life and destruction was horrific, and it pulled the U.S. into the war.

For Japanese Americans, it was a terrifying time. Overnight, we became the “enemy within” because we were of Japanese descent. /1

If you're an indigenous Australian child caught with just a small amount of weed, you get locked up.

If you're the white, adult son of a prominent politician selling shit loads of drugs, you "escape jail" because, boo hoo, your mental health.

Lismore, NSW recycled Christmas tree at dusk.
Every year, unpaid and in their down time, Lismore City Council workers raid the local tip and build a Christmas tree on this roundabout. Random people also use supermarket trolleys and make a tree.
❤️ Lismore!

Every year, unpaid and in their off time, Lismore City Council workers raid the tip and construct a recycled object Christmas tree on a roundabout. This year it's coloured bottles.
My favourite was the colourfully painted discarded bicycles tree (those painted bikes now adorn a nearby building).

the major parties' primary votes have been steadily dropping — posing an existential risk for them.

there's two ways they can arrest the decline:

1. be less shit.
2. cheat.

it's a great shame they're choosing the latter… but, you've got to admit, it's much easier.
