The reality, of course, is that Miller and a significant portion of Trump’s base are the ones who failed to assimilate to America’s post-WWII culture of multi-racial democracy & religious pluralism…and they are now using their power to destroy that once dominant (and still popular) American culture.

A very simple thing you can do is stop linking to the NYT.
I know they do some good reporting but they are also actively upholding facism and working to subvert democracy and shaping your world view.
It is more work but it is better if we start starving harmful institutions.

This passage from @benjamincarterhett.bsky.social's book on Hitler's rise to power has long haunted me for the way it describes how so many ordinary Germans had their minds & souls gradually rewired by the changing political climate of the 1930s. Watching something similar happen here is terrifying.

It’s the ignorant and uneducated every time. They might be rich or in a role suggesting expertise but ask a few questions and the veneer crumbles. If without power then it’s always grievance. Most of the time it’s an evil combo. I don’t know why any of them get a seat at any table. Waste of time!
