Watching BBC Panorama and, as someone with cancer, it is so upsetting to see what damage cancer “influencers” can do.

Trump needs more diversity in his top team. Some non-idiots would be a start.

The words we heard from the main actors of the AfD rally about “Great Germany” and “the need to forget German guilt for Nazi crimes” sounded all too familiar and ominous. Especially only hours before the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Happy to say that I haven’t watched one minute of the inauguration, nor even looked at some of the pictures because I have been giving a lecture this evening.
Now catching up with Musk’s behaviour. And (this does not happen very often, ask any of my friends), I don’t know what to say.

I just can’t share that picture. Because I would never share a picture of that vile salute.
It’s horrifying&if you minimize this I cannot help you. I did not spend my entire life trying to understand how this could be allowed to happen in Germany to now pretend this isn’t the sea change that it is.

And so this image will circulate, and it will be divorced from GB News, and it will seem to show a photograph of Rachel Reeves - although Reeves with a nose unlike her own - prostrating herself in front of the chinese premier. It's misinformation, now, but also in the future, to historians.

The below statement by Elon Musk is authentic.

The AfD demands a “reversal” of Holocaust remembrance in Germany and states that the Nazi Schutzstaffel were “not criminals”. More here—> amp.dw.com/en/how-much-... …and here—> www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/10...

You have to admire Nigel Farage - who else would have the nerve to pretend to be the defender of farmers, after selling their whole industry down the river with his Brexit shitshow.

Long-Term followers (here or elsewhere) know how happy I always am to be in the UK, but it does not alter the fact that I am genuinely shocked and appalled by the extent of real poverty &homelessness I have seen, this year alone, on several trips all over the country.
It is grim.

Like Brexit, a policy of leaving the ECHR would split the Tory party

Like Brexit, there is no consensus on what would replace it, beyond nebulous references to the common law or Raab’s fatuous Bill of Rights

It would breach the Good Friday Agreement

It could only weaken the protection of rights

Incredible for Johnson to attack Starmer over accepting free spectacles. Donors paid for his wedding, months of accommodation, several holidays, takeaways, and the redecoration of his flat.

I'm sure Ferrari challenged him on all this. No, you say? ~AA

From Seldon's new biography of Liz Truss - she considered scrapping cancer treatment to pay for the tax cuts she had given.

The question I keep asking, and will keep asking: Why is the selectorate system - via which this sequence of catastrophic leaders were chosen - still in place, unchanged? ~AA

Accidentally discovered that this area is the ‘German Bight’ of the BBC shipping forecast, made especially memorable in the film Kes when Billy calls out ‘German Bight’ after his teacher says ‘Fisher’ doing the morning register, if I remember correctly.
These islands just off the north sea coast are Germany’s best kept secret.

They’re not even bothering to hide it now: Jack Posobiec at CPAC: “Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on Jan. 6, but we will endeavor to get rid of it.”

America, please don’t treat this election as normal politics.

To everyone on BlueSky:

If there’s one institutional (or similar) account you’d follow on this platform I’d suggest it be Auschwitz Memorial. We mustn’t forget what happened in WWII.
6 February 1944 | A transport of 1,214 Jewish men, women & children deported from occupied France arrived at Auschwitz.

After the selection, 166 men & 49 women were registered. The remaining 999 people were murdered in gas chambers.

One of them was Louise Pikovsky. She was 16.
