Oldest kid took us to the Lululemon store. Horrified to see an all-crocheted hat for $44 ("on clearance" 🙄 from $58), marked as "made in China." Absolutely NO machine can create crocheted items, so that means there's likely a sweatshop of ppl making like 50 cents for HOURS of work on just ONE hat. 😡

The obsession with the birth rate being so low in the U.S. is so weird & tone deaf af. It's really frustrating to hear such brain-dead takes from hand-wringing morons who ignored (& continue to ignore) the alarm bells. Trash.

Lmfao never thought I'd hear a heavily edited version of Dance Dance by Fall Out Boy. First time for everything. Thanks, Parrot Island water park's "best music" radio station 🙄😂 (followed by "Today" by Smashing Pumpkins 🫠)

Yes. And frankly, I am utterly exhausted with these gremlins who expect everything to turn endless profits.
Your daily reminder that the U.S. Postal SERVICE is a service that is designed to benefit taxpayers and not a business that should be expected to turn a profit.
NEW: The U.S. Postal Service posted a net loss of $3.3 billion in this fiscal year’s second quarter mainly due to “significant challenges out of our control,” including workers’ compensation costs, Luke Grossmann, USPS chief financial officer, said at the open session of the governing board meeting

THE PENTAGON BUDGET JUST HIT A TRILLION DOLLARS.

Not a single pundit from either political party said “how are we going to pay for it?!”

Don’t dare tell us we cannot ALL have healthcare, housing, and education.

The "brutality" is young men are being told that they have to be decent people and that no one owes them attention (especially sexual attention) just because they want it. They're being told that in order to get a good partner they have to be a good partner. The horrors of being treated like women
It's a brutal time for young men, and to be raising one. The primary message they now is get is "YOU'RE BAD" without any meaningful attempt to offer healthy pathways beyond "Don't be a boy."

Absolutely perfect time for right wing monsters to sweep in with shitty answers.

The discussions about fertility rates are so infuriating because they're just focusing on the numbers & how they need to go up. (Sounds very capitalistic, "Number go up!" type shit) and not about why this is happening and ACTUAL ways to prevent it. Forced births are not the answer. 😡

Our current fertility rate isn't high enough for humanity to survive
A new study finds that a fertility rate of 2.7 children per woman, not 2.1, may be needed to avoid long-term population extinction.

Browsing Ravelry to find crochet inspiration for things to make my SIL's soon-to-be-born baby girl and I keep finding super old patterns where the poor baby models look on the brink of blinking twice for help lol

@npr.org for every minute spent talking to a non-autistic person about autistic people's needs, you should be giving at least 2x that amount to actually autistic people— & not just in written stories, but on-air.

Apply said rubric to any other group under attack right now for their lived realities.

Undiagnosed autism is spending your whole life doing things that make you uncomfortable or that are just not "you" (conforming) to avoid being mistreated (bullied) until you're so good at it that when you finally do get diagnosed, people around you don't believe you.

Dog sitting at my sister's. It's 4 am and there's some haunting music coming from somewhere down the hallway of the kids' rooms. Investigating it would be the absolute whitest thing I could do but I'll be honest, I am SO TEMPTED bc wtf is it?! One of the kids' toys? And why at 4 am?!

Today I'm contemplating how much nicer life would be if asshole people were just automatically turned into sweet, friendly, fluffy dogs everything they acted like an asshole. Just imagine!

I want us to study the history of resistance to slave catchers right now. I want us to study how slave catchers worked, how they were sanctioned, who paid them, and why they did what they did, right now. I want us to study the hyperlocal and networked ways slave catchers were impeded. Right now.

For me, fighting fascism has nothing to do with thinking I’ll win. I don’t fight because there’s an inevitable outcome, I fight because I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t do something.

Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished
