This would all be an unfunny joke by this point if our byzantine system of campaign finance didn't enable this type of behavior on behalf of wealthy financiers. It is actually an option to rise above it, though, Joe.
We knew these PACs would crop up, and we know they’re going to pour even more money into this race now that I’m the DFL-endorsed candidate. Let’s show these wealthy donors the power of grassroots fundraising. Donate at fatehformayor.com/donate.

Blackrock's intentions are evident. It matters who owns Minnesota Power. We should be grateful that we have voices like Aaron Brown and an ALJ who are willing to take up these big questions. It would be good to see more from the MP and Chamber set in NE MN.

I hate to say this out loud at this sensitive moment, but I want to be honest that the "save public radio" pleas aren't landing very effectively with me even though I agree with many of the stated principles.

10/10 recommend for both the writing and the photos. Honestly, I'm not sure I recall a better or more comprehensive column on this topic of so much interest in northeastern Minnesota.

Palestinian writer and analyst Muhammad Shehada says Israel's genocide is only intensifying. "There's basically an airstrike every other minute" while Israeli forces continue "shooting people at random" across the Gaza Strip.

The MN Supreme Court has denied US Steel's petition to review the MPCA's rejection of a "site specific standard" downstream of the Keetac Mine. USS had proposed a 79 mg/L standard, 8x the 10 mg/L standard in law. MPCA denied it, USS appealed, and this is the end for that appeal.

I like this piece.

Notably (and beyond the scope, to be clear) -- establishment grumblings about "civility" and appeals to denounce violence are different things entirely. One has an agenda, the other is unequivocally correct. www.startribune.com/east-bethel-...
Brown: East Bethel city councilor’s controversial Facebook comment is a symptom of a bigger problem
East Bethel City Councilor Suzanne Erkel "used the aftermath of an incendiary political tragedy to share a half-baked conspiracy theory," columnist Aaron Brown writes. "She wasn’t alone in doing so, b...

Brown: Assassination, political violence a symptom of 'soul sickness'
We are experiencing a social disease that elevates violent rhetoric, mocks decency and civility, and worships power above all else.

When it comes to understanding these <really important> social and political dynamics in context, Jacob Frey is not helping. Yes, this is an understatement.
the company line from the Mayor and his dopey police sychophant surrogates, is that misinformation from activists escalated the trauma and panic of yesterday. No. Military vehicles, long guns, covered masked faces and jungle fatigues looking like a junta escalated panic and fear

Delightful little piece here from @minnesotabrown.bsky.social about the ongoing challenges of funding small town libraries.

Pictured: my gem of a childhood library, which I loved, and which today is one of a very few remaining anchors of the old downtown.

I still sort of can't get over how limited and disappointing the conversation about riot gear was at the Duluth city level (and most other places). All of this is connected. A minority of elected leaders are willing to put that together.
I am at Bloomington and Lake to understand whats taking place this morning. On scene are DHS, ICE, FBI, Sheriffs, and MPD. No matter the reason, one thing is clear: this display of force is designed to strike fear at the very heart of MPLS. We stand in solidarity against it.

As Americans, we're constantly flooded with propaganda telling us that punishment is the only solution to society’s problems. This mindset is baked into our culture—fed to us by media giants who profit from keeping us fearful, passive, and numb.

We have to unlearn it. We have to resist it.

If we could just get more Chris Ingrahams in state and local media, that would be great, thank you.
You don't need to frame things like this -- the nonpartisan *Congressional Budget Office* says the cuts will leave millions without care, as the story itself notes.

I don't think "gas and plastic toys should be cheaper" is actually a good (or accurate) political message. Would love if we could keep our eye on essential human needs instead of things that are actually killing us.
