It *really* matters that important institutions are willing to self-diagnose and be self-critical beyond basic preservation instincts. We have these principles. How are we really doing? What are the long term impacts of compromises we may be making?

Why? For me, I found NPR and MPR's treatment of the 2008-2009 financial crisis and subsequent bailouts to be softer than hot shit, and I've had a lot of trouble being enthusiastically on board ever since.
