The mistake is to think Zelensky could have salvaged this. Trump admin just doesn’t want to support Ukraine. Period. There was also never going to be a peace agreement. That’s been clear but everyone has been pretending otherwise. There can be no confusion now.

No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.

It's super important to remember that the U.S. public specifically still has a huge lever for dealing with Elon Musk: not buying Teslas. EU and China have little upside or margin for Tesla, so if U.S. demand drops materially it will hit hard. A big drop could get the Muskworld dominoes tottering
