Here I was agonizing over every comma and exclamation mark in my correspondence, oblivious to the fact that an alarming number of extremely powerful, rich, and ethically bankrupt public figures (ahem, Larry Summers) were firing off emails that are borderline gibberish (with a side of ellipses).

Took my 10 year old to his first concert last night. @thebeths.bsky.social. His review to his younger brother this morning “YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW EXCITING IT IS!”

There are more important things in the world, but I would really love it if streaming services would stop animating old album covers.

It’s Joyce by a mile. And it would still be Joyce by a mile with only Dubliners and Portrait. But it isn’t just those two.
Pick one! Once and for all!

I had to put in level 2 outlet, but I have a 40 ish mile total commute. I charge overnight a few times a week and never really think about it. It’s probably paid for itself in gas savings. And my super basic Bolt EUV drives better than any gas car I’ve ever owned. EVs are a no brainer.

Some smart publication should reach out to every single person who signed the Harper’s letter and get their comment / explicit no-comment
I signed the Harper's letter to show I was brave enough to stand up to the left on free speech. But I've decided that I'm not brave enough to stand up to the right about it.

these motherfuckers stoked the flames of bigotry for decades for political gain. now they’re acting like someone who drove drunk, crashed his car into a tree, and wants to blame the evil dems for not taking his keys away. sorry you lost control of the beast it and ate your party whole

I’ve been thinking about Russian River Beers too much and immediately thought “Beers don’t have opinions.”
Pliny the Younger apparently thought sports were very stupid but it's funny that it's for the exact reason laid out in Seinfeld s6e12 ("The Label Maker")

Because I’m rewatching it at the moment. The part in Terminator where Cameron can’t leave it well enough alone and has Arnold standing in front of the flashing “Tech-Noir” sign holding an Uzi.
here's a game I just invented, what are the worst scenes in otherwise good movies? eg:

terminator 2: john teaches the terminator slang. "hasta la vista, baby" and "no problemo" lmao

the dark knight: harvey looking right at the joker in full make up and not recognizing him bc of the nurse's mask

Don’t want to lose sight of the fact that the No Kings rallies were planned specifically as counterprogramming to Trump’s parade. Imagine if you were planning a birthday party and bars nationwide announced they’d hold Fuck That Guy’s Birthday Night and like 15 times as many people showed up to those

Variations of “how so?” “Say more” are also a college teacher’s bread and butter. The other trick is “when you say [abstract word] what do you mean?”
Dumb journalists think being a tough interviewer requires writing down gotcha questions in advance.
Smart journalists know that the trick is just listening and sometimes going, ‘how so?’
Chotiner is a legitimately good journalist but it’s wild that people think he’s some sort of evil wizard because he says “what do you mean by that”

Who would have guessed that a company named after a communication technology which has fallen into the wrong hands and is now a dangerous surveillance tool that threatens freedom would become a company that surveils people and threatens their freedom?

For sale: Golf clubs. Broken shafts.
Relatedly, there's a very clear divide between guys who bought new clubs and guys who quit golf on FB Marketplace. The quitters note "some broken shafts" in the listing title.
I wonder if you could predict divorce rates based on the number of listings for golf clubs and bass amps on Facebook Marketplace.
