The animating force at the heart of US conservatism currently is incandescent rage at the mere idea of women's autonomy and independence. An image of a smiling woman who looks insufficiently deferential for their tastes riles them up enough to tear up the social contract.
this is all it’s really about for them. Not domestic policy, not “economic anxiety”, just an endless desire to punish stand-ins for the Mommy who forced them take a bath, even if it tanks their own quality of life.

Started reading Blessed is the Flame. Seems, relevant. Also seems surprisingly good as a contrast with Black Trans Feminism. Both deal with the relation btw. identity & violence, and with what abolition might look like as a practice of resistance/refusal even in the face of (apparent) hopelessness

Two queer women with a 6 year old in school today stopped to film ICE and for their bravery ICE agents murdered one before the other’s eyes. The grief in the survivor’s voice is a knife to the gut. Destroying people and their bonds is what ICE has always done.

It's really not possible to overstate how central sexual violence is to the right, and sexual violence against children in particular.

Anyway, I've been reading Black Trans Feminism by Marquis Bey, and really enjoying it. Feeding into a lot of thoughts I've had about identity and subjectivity being an aspect of oppression, parts of what we need to escape from. The body as prisoner, cage, and guard all at once.

There are entire books about this, but like. I think there's an important conversation to be had about the way reactionaries simultaneously sexualize marginalized classes of people *and* deny them any sexual agency or expression.
