I wish people would connect this to the ways Columbia has been trampling on the rights of disabled people for years now too. This is the same university that has pushed mask bans and crackdowns on disabled ppl's civil liberties amidst the ongoing pandemic. It's all interconnected.
"We are deeply appreciative of all you do in the care of our students and community. Also we will be using your engineering class as a trap for students who protested a genocide before they're shipped off to a Trump blacksite, and it's not optional."
Columbia's Provost evidently sent this message to faculty forbidding them from moving classes offline or canceling them amid ICE activity on campus.
