The UK uses the Climate Change Act framework to set its national targets under the Paris Agreement. What’s next, will the Tories go full Donald Trump and pull the UK out of Paris?

If not, how do they plan to set the national climate targets required of the UK under the Paris Agreement?

James Cleverly a mess on net zero. Somehow tells Laura K he supports Badenoch wanting to scrap net zero by 2050 while also saying he supports and sees benefits of climate action

Starmer also clearly emotional having to defend this moving gift to his mum. Laura K backed off pretty quick when she realised her gotcha question was actually just a bit mean

Useful from @simonusherwood.bsky.social “an early marker of how much effort is being put into this will be the speed with which the Commission produces and agrees mandates for SPS, Emissions trading, Energy market integration and youth mobility/experience”
My thoughts on this week's UK-EU reset

Tl;dr it's the next week's that will tell us whether it is going to mean much

Not the most discussed element of the summit but I think the commitment on UK participation in the internal energy market is v significant. Unambiguous cherry picking which shows both UK willingness to reintegrate into single market and EU willingness to be flexible about it.

Shouldn’t Parliament have a say on new agreements with India, the US and the EU?

Parliament should get a say over Starmer's trade deals
It seems astonishing to think that parliament may not get a substantive vote on the principle of these agreements.
