Lover of trains, bikes, efficiency, Pigouvian taxes.
Hater of PM2.5, Single Family Zoning, unnecessarily large vehicles.
Two tire workers independently told me "I put these on my wife's car" which I think is one of the best endorsements of a car's safety!
I have now had a chance to test out the Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires in some heavy snow.

Here's a short thread on my thoughts. Overall extremely pleased with a few minor surprises.

Lots of excellent reporting and writing in the NYT today. Will post some, but I’m out of gift links.

First, and most importantly, the great Nikole Hannah-Jones on the lived experience of Black and queer people in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s death.

Does anyone else think that this feels inappropriate? Like you're made of peanut butter... where did the peanut butter on your finger come from!?!?!

Note the jar looks full and maybe even sealed?

Research shows that criminalization and encampment clearing doesn’t solve #homelessness.

In a new post, Urban #research experts highlight evidence-based solutions like #housing vouchers and supportive housing to address homelessness in DC and beyond.
The National Guard Won’t End Homelessness. Housing Resources Can.
Despite a nationwide trend toward criminalizing people experiencing homelessness, decades of research show that housing resources and other supports remain the best solution to helping people exit hom...

The owner of a bunch of Taco Bell franchises bought this 3-story building and replacing it with a 5-story building with a Taco Bell at the bottom.

I didn't think this was really going to happen, but it is in fact happening.

Broken clock tariff? This seems like maybe the one tariff I can get behind.

Since my tweet about Jeff Bezos, I've been getting a lot of replies such as these. "Where do these dress rules come from?" "When do they change?"

These are very good questions, so let me answer them. 🧵

Today marks the third anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

What's happened since?

A record number of women have been prosecuted. Pregnancy loss is now considered extremely suspicious, even when it has nothing to do with abortion.
Criminalizing pregnancy: A record number of women were prosecuted the year after Dobbs
They were targeted for substance use, miscarriages, and stillbirths, largely driven by fetal personhood laws.

Sometimes electric vehicles are more efficient and save money. This is bad policy.
👀 Scoop: Trump and Republicans want USPS to sell off its brand new EVs and chargers.

That would mean literally **ripping up post office parking lots** to auction off assets with no private-sector value.

It’s buried in the Senate’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

I mean it's a metro area with only like 3.7% of the country's population.

Like, I mean one out of every 25 people lives in LA.

I'm excited for Colorado to show us what alt-history California would look like.

I live car free in Boulder, and there really is a lot of good car-free bones.
Colorado governor’s new executive order will condition municipalities’ receipt of $100 million in state grants on those cities’ compliance with state housing laws, including:
—Allowing ADUs
—Eliminating parking requirements near transit
—Denser zoning districts near transit
Gov. Polis will shut off millions in state grants to cities and counties that don’t comply with state housing policies
The governor issued an executive order Friday requiring local governments to show they’re enacting policies to encourage more housing in order to qualify for transportation and energy funds.
