Trump, given his current behavior, is likely to back Israeli open-ended campaigns in Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, the West Bank, and even Iran, so long as the strikes stay off the front pages of the media he cares about in the U.S.

It seems like the trick to negotiating with Trump is to realize he doesn’t have any idea what the current facts are.

The most surreal and maddening feature of the campaign was that everyone agreed that high prices were the main issue but the guy explicitly, consistently running on a platform of raising everyone’s prices won voters most concerned about high prices.

We hammered this time and time again and yet.

From the start, the Abraham Accords were undergirded by faulty assumptions—namely, that peace and security in the Middle East could be achieved without resolving the Palestinian question, argues @elgindy.bsky.social.

It’s bizarre to see warnings that Syria “might become” Libya. It’s detached from reality. Syria over the past 14 years has been far more disordered, violent, brutal - all under Assad, who managed to achieve the rare combination of extreme repression & total chaos, neither freedom nor stability.

don't really feel like litigating Biden's choice, but the Hunter pardon really does illustrate the logic of the low trust equilibrium--which is to say, how corruption spreads itself through society.

Is Trump anti-war? @johnwgunnison.bsky.social and I debate this question with noted conservative think Curt Mills on today’s podcast episode.

No, John and I do not think Trump is anti-war. And his cabinet picks speak directly to this fact.

Some of the map patches on israeli soldiers showing areas part of the Kingdom as greater Israel might have further dented this cause. However with Netanyahu enjoying complete strategic autonomy over air and land across the whole levant might have also reduced Israel’s own urge to further normalize
This expansionist rhetoric has rubbed the Saudis the wrong way, and took the wind out of normalisation sails. It is now repeated as a cautionary tale among officials.

It was only last week that Amr Moussa warned Saudis of Israel’s expansionist ambitions. They took the warning on board, it seems.
Historically speaking, Israel is, in fact, Egypt; the area is filled with evidence of the presence of Egyptians. (We can keep doing this forever).
