If the Democrats ever regain power, so much work needs to be done fixing, cleaning, re-engineering, re-strengthening, and re-securing our govt.

From elections to laws and justice to science to intelligence to defense to foreign policy and all the strings and people that hold all of that together.

If you’re feeling nostalgic and want to remember what it was like to have competent people working in The White House, watch S3 episode 19 of The West Wing.

Rewatching The West Wing. The camera work, especially in the Press Briefing Room, is magnificent.

This is the 3rd time they cut rates & after each cut more layoffs are announced. Not more hiring. Data from this year does not support that cutting rates = bolstering the job market.
The U.S. stock market is rising closer to its all-time high on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve cut its main interest rate to bolster the job market, just like nearly everyone on Wall Street expected. https://to.pbs.org/3XQfwBZ
As expected, Wall Street rises closer to its all-time high after the Fed cuts rates
Wall Street loves lower interest rates because they can boost the economy and goose prices for investments, even if they also can worsen inflation.

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

I recognize this is, to some extent, cope/bargaining, but

this is the the first of several votes necessary to end the shutdown, right? so even the present unfathomable fecklessness doesn't mean it's over over, and there are multiple potential blockage points ahead to reject a no-concessions 'deal'?

Get on the phone if you have a dem senator and ask them if they want to end their first good week in years in total abject dejection by their entire base

I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

If the choice is between making holiday travel inconvenient in the short term and making sure people have affordable healthcare coverage n the long term, I vote for option B.
@chrismurphyct.bsky.social Hold the line. I called and left a voicemail but I know you are active on social media. As a constituent, I am asking you to not settle for anything less than an extension of ACA tax credits AND ensuring federal workers are reinstated with full back pay.
