The life I have is hard, but I got to choose it, and the road that brought me here I did not.

Appalling that Policy Exchange’s offices were violently attacked last night - just the latest in a lengthy series of such intimidatory attacks targeted at think tanks and campaign groups, doing perfectly legitimate work that is part of our democratic process.

Twitter: tedious Elon Musk and 'Tommy Robinson' worship

Here: equally tedious Elon Musk and Nigel Farage hatred (and general Twitter circa 2011 tweeness)

It is to Nigel Farage's credit that this break-up with Elon Musk comes over Farage's continued criticism of Tommy Robinson after the billionaire championed Robinson. Reform voters will obviously choose Nigel Farage over Elon Musk.

More murder advocacy on the blue butterfly app. Tell me again why this is supposed to be such a wonderful place.
Capitalists are the enemy of the human race, and should be treated as such.

In the wake of the health insurer CEO’s murder, Taylor Lorenz has celebrated his death and now has posted the name and face of another health insurance CEO. This is more than tacitly encouraging violence. This is reprehensible behavior that has no place in a civil society.

I think you should also perhaps acknowledge that Bluesky is not less filled with hate per se, but that *you* see less hate. This is my Bluesky experience:

Hi everyone - there's already been an Indie SAGE starter pack, but here's an Indie SAGE list which can pin to your BlueSky home page and then you have a really quick way of catching up on what Indie SAGE members have been posting about!

What @bsky.app needs is a clearer verification process for organisations and media. Strongly suspect that is what is stopping those big beasts coming here - but if that is provided I can totally see this App eclipsing Twitter for good.

Why is Bluesky telling me I have an invalid handle?
November 20, 2024 at 8:08 PM
Twitter may be somewhat unruly and untethered, but at least it's not as insufferable as this.
Only thing I’d suggest is:

This welcoming and currently cosy space mustn’t be the place where we hibernate and seek sanctuary from the horrors populism is unveiling all around us.

It must be the place from which we defeat it.

An echo chamber, perhaps, but one that faces firmly outwards.

I'm not quite sure why I am here. Most of the people who loudly announced they were leaving Twitter for Bluesky were exactly the sort of people I wouldn't choose to follow. But you never know.
