Green Party candidate for Dovedale & Ashbourne North in the 2025 County Council elections.
Focus on energy transition, domestic renewables and retrofitting buildings for sustainability. Views own.

Promoted by John HIll c/o PO Box 78066, London, SE16 9GQ.
Really enjoyed participating in the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School question time event this morning.
Representatives from 5 parties faced the sixth form. It's always striking how thoughtful the questions are.
Thanks so much to the school and the students.

Anything we can do, we can afford.

Don't believe me or Zack, believe the greatest economist of the 20th century.
2/ And here is Keynes in 1942 stressing - like @zackpolanski.bsky.social - that government spending is nothing like managing a household budget.

What Keynes described as the "vile doctrine of the nineteenth century" has been reinvented under the guise of neoliberal austerity economics.

It's the same thing with Reform's manifesto.
NEW: It’s takes a moment for this to really sink in.

Guardian reporting that key parts of Trump’s peace plan was drafted IN RUSSIAN first.

We're in a really good position to win this byelection and Lian will be an excellent councillor.
Dales people be ready to answer the call for help leafleting etc.
I am pleased to have been selected as the Green candidate for the Horsley by-election for Derbyshire County Council. Now the hard work of getting out and challenging Reform to be the representative for the parishes of Denby, Horsley, Horsley Woodhouse, Kilburn, Mapperley, Shipley and Smalley.

Well this is interesting, isn't it?
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

The news from the US this morning is encouraging and there are lessons for the left and centre left in this country. Money doesn’t always win. The billionaires may pour it out to their chosen politicians but the people can still stick two fingers up to them.

The UK needs a wealth tax. Multimillionaires and billionaires will scream and wail, but when it comes down to it, most of them will pay up. The ones determined not to pay their way to live in our country may go where they please.

Very disappointed in Derbyshire Dales MP John Whitby for his vote here.
What Palestine Action has done is clearly not terrorism.

No Green breakthrough in Dovedale & Ashbourne North on Thursday, but it was a good night for us overall. In Derbyshire, congratulations to Gez who held his seat & Rachel who gained one, both by big margins.

Thank you everyone who helped, voted Green & those who gave serious thought to voting Green.

The Greens did well on Thursday, but like it or not, we all depend on Labour making some halfway sensible decisions for the foreseeable future if we are not to fall to the hard right.
Trying to be diet Reform is clearly not working.

I'm in this picture, and I like it
Our planet is in crisis

This week, many in the UK will stay home and ignore the local elections and allow Trump-supporting ghouls from Reform to win power

Or in these seats, voters could flip the national narrative

Solidarity with all trans, non-binary & intersex people facing the harsh and ill-considered guidance issued by the EHRC.

It’s full of holes & has clearly been written without input from trans people. I will push for this to be withdrawn until thought-out guidance can be produced.

Entering the last week of the campaign now. I've not been very active on here, but I have been working hard delivering leaflets.
According my phone app (accuracy is questionable!) I've racked up over 120,000 steps & around 80km while leafleting, and the team has done far more.
Thanks everyone!
