Association between COVID-19 infection and new-onset dementia in older adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis

I just talked to one of my husband’s relatives who was recently diagnosed with vestibular neuritis.

That makes it the 8th such diagnosis in my circle this year. And my circle is not that big.

This is not normal.

In 2025, the following groups WON’T be eligible for an NHS Covid booster:

❌ clinically vulnerable ppl (unless immunosuppressed)

❌ most people under 75

❌ pregnant women

❌ health & care workers

Private Covid vaccines are available at a cost of ~£100 per dose. That’s ~£400 for a family of 4.

During my optometrist appointment yesterday, the optometrist and staff wore N95s.

Now, off to my doctor, who wears a N95.

Tomorrow, getting my haircut with my hairdresser who wears N95s.

It’s not that hard to wear a N95.

As a 50 year old Victorian who has had every single COVID vaccination I’ve been eligible for, it infuriates me that I am not allowed to have a 6 monthly top up. It’s been 11 months since my last. I’m also mad that if I catch covid I’m not eligible for paxlovid, even if prepared to pay out of pocket.

If a Government is trying to rush a bill through Parliament, then odds are something fishy is going on.

New from us. Long COVID is complicated but not so mysterious, it’s looking more and more like it’s driven simply by “long infection”. What’s the evidence for this and what does this mean should happen? Read about it here onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.5694/...
Towards a cure for long COVID: the strengthening case for persistently replicating SARS‐CoV‐2 as a driver of post‐acute sequelae of COVID‐19

There are creepy stories about MAID in Canada where basic support is cut to make life tolerable. Welfare support lines are a dead end of “your call is important to us” but the support line to access MAID is answered immediately by a friendly operator. Next come papers about how much money it saves.
I agree with the *idea* of assisted suicide. Nobody should have to lead an intolerable life.

But what if it is others who make your life intolerable? Or if you are unable to receive the basics that make life tolerable, like care, suitable medication, pain relief?

Nope.

Invariably when you try and discuss Long Covid with people - they proudly proclaim they don’t know anyone with Long Covid.

Then they go on to tell you about their new onset allergies, fatigue, loss of taste & smell, alcohol intolerance etc.

You know someone with Long Covid. It might even be you.
