"DOGE" is scrutinized by Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL), who notes that Elon Musk, "has not had one single successful business that hasn't leeched onto taxpayer money."

Thanksgiving is a holiday when we ignore racism & genocide eat lots of unhealthy food.

It’s like the history of America in a day.

Reading the pardon coverage...I don't think the significance of the Gaetz/Patel/Bondi nominations has sunk in. People still aren't getting what a politicized DOJ and FBI, with the power to arrest/bug/harass anyone for any reason, would be able to do.

speaking of pardons....

President Biden still has the power to free Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier.
This Thanksgiving, Biden Should Grant Clemency to Leonard Peltier
By Amy Goodman & Denis Moynihan Amnesty International has campaigned for Peltier’s release for decades. The group recently sent a letter to President Biden, reiterating their demand.

The big story here seems to be that NYT set out on a fishing expedition to find Dems willing to suggest that trans people cost them the election. NYT's anti-trans bias is undefeated.
My first for Rolling Stone: Did the NYT create the whole “Dems in disarray over trans rights” thing?

Rep. Seth Moulton says they started it.

I interviewed the Dem congressman who unintentionally sparked a narrative that trans rights hurt Dems in the election.

Democratic Lawmaker Clarifies He's Not 'Suddenly Anti-Trans'
The Democrat argues the media has been unfair, but says Dems must “engage in the debate” over trans policies — or Republicans will fill the vacuum.

heartwarming story for the holidays ❤️‍🔥

“…the neo-Nazis told police they had never experienced a response like the one they received in Columbus. They said people pulled guns on them and threw cans and vegetables as they marched... One of the officers noted the men were ‘covered in’ pepper spray.”
Body cam footage: Neo-Nazis who marched in Short North claimed to be victims of violence
The neo-Nazis told police they had never received such a violent response as the one they received in Columbus, and claimed people threw cans and veggies.

Drake just signed a legal document acknowledging "Not Like Us" did him great harm.

Is this not the biggest defeat in hip-hop history?

“whoever goes viral holds power, whatever goes viral is true” does not seem like a SUSTAINABLE principle for governing a country but it is increasingly the principle governing ours

this context is important and missing from a lot of articles that cover bluesky / threads

- bluesky: $0 marketing spend
- threads: injects posts directly into instagram feeds with dark patterns (like trailing `...` instead of the full post) that incentivize users to download the app

UPDATED: Trump's confirmed picks to lead US health agencies:

HHS - Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
NIH - Jay Bhattacharya
CMS - Mehmet Oz
CDC - Dave Weldon
FDA - Marty Makary
Surgeon General - Janette Nesheiwat

All have spread disinformation on vaccines and public health measures.

I think it’s worth considering that Covid played a more **direct** role in this election than we have yet grappled with.

I don’t mean lockdowns, or Covid policy choices, or Covid-related economic shocks.

I mean the literal virus impacting literally over a hundred million US voters…
"Executive function relates to judgment, anger control, and managing emotions and actions. There is mounting research finding that executive function is one of the primary cognitive functions degraded in long COVID.
