I do hope the NWSL can find a way to have home-field championships in the future. I understand the challenges, but a neutral site final takes away so much

Don't think I've seen a team failed by bad coaching in a big moment as bad the Spirit tonight in quite some time

This shit is so dumb. If you really don't want to vote against this simply don't show up! It's very easy to message that this is a fake, meaningless thing that wasn't worth showing up for.
BREAKING: The House of Representatives voted 285–98 in favor of a resolution condemning socialism.

Eighty-six Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the measure, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Honestly the most bizarre thing here is this is from a video the official White House account posted 3 days ago (not to mention occurred in front of the press in the first place). Why did it take People Magazine posting this 3 days after the fact for anyone to highlight it?

In my job search I've already come across multiple private companies in the DC area that also ask this loyalty question about which Trump executive orders you're passionate about.
"The unions claim the inclusion of a 'loyalty question' on federal job applications runs counter to the nonpartisan nature of the civil service, because it allows the 'Trump Administration to weed out those who do not voice sufficient support for President Trump and reward those who do.'”
"One of several essay questions, outlined under the administration’s Merit Hiring Plan, asks candidates how they would 'advance the president’s executive orders and policy priorities' " marylandmatters.org/2025/11/11/u...

I still tend to think a Katrina-type event in the next 3 years will be a defining moment for this administration as it was for Bush, and likely the fact that this year's hurricane season was tame makes a catastrophically bad response more likely in the long run.

This is flatly untrue given that Landon Thomas was emailing Epstein from his work email. The NYT has had access to these emails since the moment they were sent.
We’re seeing materials that no journalists, not Julie Brown, not Ronan Farrow, not anyone from any paper, managed to get access to before now. The conspiracy theories bouncing around about NYT are nothing more than a show people’s ignorance of what goes into a real piece of investigative journalism

Sure would be nice to have an open seat in Pennsylvania to fill in the midterms

Maybe some self reflection is due if you completely missed the single most important angle of a story that you and 11 people worked on for 7 years.
I was at NYT for 7 years & one of a dozen reporters who investigated Epstein’s interactions w/the rich & powerful. I don’t know every conversation held at every level there, but I do know we dedicated ourselves to exposing those who supported Epstein & engaged in the abuse of girls he facilitated

100% chance the GOP gives him a nice payday to switch parties if the Dems get 51 seats in the midterms
"Being devoted to Israel is becoming increasingly incompatible with being a proud Democrat.”

-John Fetterman, on Bari Weiss' Free Press podcast "Honestly"
November 11, 2025 at 11:43 PM
Not surprising, but my god is the Fetterman interview on NPR abysmal. I know there's a risk he switches parties if you push him too hard, but there's gotta be repercussions for continually selling out your caucus to the media like he does
November 10, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Like with Schumer and the DC budget in March, it's somewhat unclear whether he's actually stupid enough to believe this or just thinks we're stupid enough to not understand
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now
November 10, 2025 at 6:10 PM
It's essential to tear down the current democratic leadership because there are many things that need to be done when back in power that the current caucus doesn't have the stomach for (e.g. packing the court, abolishing DHS, imprisoning Trump admin, DC statehood). Now's the time to clean house
You don't have to blame any of this on Democrats. Literally none of this is the Democrats fault.
November 10, 2025 at 4:34 AM
Running out of time, but another earlier wake up call for the centrists would be actually normie, qualified candidates launching primary campaigns instead of politely waiting their turn. Dem Tea Party is happening one way or another, the only question is the candidates
this sort of thing doesn’t end until a couple centrist senators go down in flames in a primary

November 10, 2025 at 1:09 AM
If this actually is the deal then Democrats somehow managed to find the only way to outright lose the shutdown. Impressively pulling defeat from the jaws of victory.

NEWS: After disturbances in Navy Yard on Friday night, @mayorbowser.dc.gov is instituting an emergency curfew of 11 p.m. for any kid under the age of 18, from tonight through November 5. She is also empowering the police to designate special zones where the curfew is 6 p.m.

I really don't like how Democrats frame things as "distractions." It should be framed as the Trump administration is distracted, not that they're trying to distract voters. If you tell voters something is a distraction, you're telling them it's something not worth noticing or being energized about.
Obama: The weird videos of a U.S. President with a crown on his head flying a fighter jet and dumping poop on protesting citizens… All of that is designed to distract you from the fact that your situation has not gotten better.
November 1, 2025 at 10:57 PM
The most striking thing about elite punditry, from Douthat to Ezra Klein and all the rest, is that even a year removed from the election, it's as if it's still November 2024 for these people. To elite pundits, absolutely nothing of consequence has happened since November 5, 2024.
It is time to admit that Republicans won the 2024 election by running to the center.

Last night, the National Guard chased children who were out enjoying Halloween in Navy Yard.

There is no valid reason for armed soldiers to terrorize children like this. End Trump’s occupation of DC. National Guard out NOW.
