styled-components maintenance mode doesn't have to mean panic mode.

Our engineer @codey.bsky.social made performant community forks. Linear's already seeing 40% faster renders with zero code changes.

Not a permanent fix, but it buys you time to migrate properly.

styled-components maintenance mode: A 40% faster fork | Sanity
After styled-components entered maintenance mode, we forked it with React 18's useInsertionEffect. Result: 40% faster renders for Linear. Open source solution.

This one will be worth keeping an eye on.

You can use the numeric keyword `infinity` to ensure an element is at the top of the z-axis.

You can easily implement a display showing live time arrivals of RapidKL and MyBas Johor buses because this data is open sourced in Malaysia

This took lots of hard work to get to here by the people behind the Public Sector Open Data team!

A PDS is your atproto repository in the cloud. It stores your posts/likes/follows/etc and acts as a proxy to the network for your client.

For technical people, it's very low effort to run your own PDS. You rent a ~$5/mo server and run the handy installer script.

Not at all necessary but it's cool!

interesting to see brands experiment with the Bluesky tools and feeds to surface user-generated content

You wanted starter packs to be searchable. Our engineers are busy keeping us online, so in the meantime, an independent developer built a new searchable library of starter packs. This is the beauty of building in the open 🦋

Any good alternative for supabase? Or any other good baas to introduce.

Worried about the cost when my apps grow.

I saw there’s this thing called pocket base but still pre v1.

But supabase have a self host option? 🤔

For those that actually prefer the discovery/for you feed. Glad it’s getting better.

Not a huge fan of chronological follow feed. Especially when my following feed is quite a bit slimmer and not tailored.

Also me: that y function looks wrong let me refactor that so that x would be easily develop.
me: i need to transfer a blender file to my desktop

my ADHD: what i'm hearing is we need a dedicated home file server

me: that sounds reasonable

In case you’re interested in the more technical overview on how the two platform differs
This is a really good analysis comparing the ActivityPub approach to decentralisation with Bluesky/atproto. I might quibble with some details, but overall it's fair and balanced. Thanks @dustyweb.bsky.social for taking the time to write it!
How Decentralized Is Bluesky Really? dustycloud.org/blog/how-dec...

A technical deep-dive, since people have been asking me for my thoughts. I'll expand a bit on some of the key points here in a thread. 🧵
