In the wake of FBref's defacto death, I saw a lot of posts suggesting alternate data sources. Unfortunately, many of them focus exclusively on men's soccer. To measure what options remain for woso, I conducted a survey of the most popular FBref alternatives. What I found is disappointing:

This weekend my dad asked me about that "first stat on the screen" at halftime of a soccer game. It was xG. He seemed to nod along to my explanation. That's my version of xG becoming mainstream.

6 suspensions (10 games)
3 personal (7 games)
3 illness (6 games, all COVID)
1 scratch (1 game, regular season finale of 15-16)
Caps are 26-28-5 without him but 4-13-0 in last 17 w/o him

I will say @golazodelgringo.bsky.social has been covering Liga MX Femenil on Bluesky for a long time. Since I'm a casual fan he is how I keep track of the league.

Have I mentioned I'm a Chivas fan? Their season is a great example of how coaches really do matter. Gago left mid season to coach Boca Juniors and Chivas have not looked the same since.

Chivas-Atlas and Tijuana -America are scheduled for November 21. The Tijuana-America winner qualifies directly to the liguilla. The loser faces the winner of Chivas-Atlas for the last spot in the liguilla.
The Liga MX final regular standings are set for the Apertura 2024 season.
Next up, the play-in round where the 7th-10th teams play a single game to determine which teams take the last two spots in the eight team liguilla.
