"When I was ten. I read fairy tales in secret & would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." - C.S. Lewis

I just saw an Easter ad so it's time to start reminding people: LILIES ARE DEADLY FOR CATS. The leaves, the petals, the stem, even drinking a bit of vase water or licking a few grains of pollen from their fur can cause fatal kidney failure. ⚠️ www.fda.gov/animal-veter....

How much does it cost YOU to feed the children at schools that receive free, healthy lunches per week?
$1.34.
Can you do that for our kids?

I do not usually brag about being from Worcester but...
The Worcester Public Library in Massachusetts announced that people who have lost or damaged a book can bring a picture of a cat this month to one of its branches and get their library cards reactivated. The program, which it calls March Meowness, has generated hundreds of returns.
Library Fees? No Problem. Just Show Us Your Cat Photos.
A program this month encourages library patrons in Worcester, Mass., who have lost or damaged books or other items to reactivate their accounts. All they need is a picture of a cat.

Stupid articles like this are the result of the govt doing a good job. If they’d failed us, we’d be reading the opposite speculation. It’s like someone driving the length of NZ, not having an accident & then publishing an op ed that seatbelts are an overreaction. www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
Was keeping schools closed for so long in the Covid pandemic the right call?
It was more than two years of constant disruption for many students and it has caused lasting impacts to their education.

This graph is nothing short of alarming

Measles is extremely infectious
We need ~95% vaccinated to give herd immunity
It will tear through communities with these vax rates leaving a trail of sickness, long term health problems and death in its wake

Pls make sure your kids are vaccinated!

Question for all of us to ponder: how do we balance hitting home the reality of a mass disabling event with the fact that the tactics to hit home are all based in a “loss” or “deficit” framing? Is it possible to make people see the seriousness of it without ableist framings?
This was a heartbreaking story to work on: New data from reveals the crushing burden of Long Covid in NZ.

Reading testimonies is like reading obituaries. LC patients describe their lives in the past tense, because the lives they used to have are now gone.

Wanted my first skyte in the blue place to be an image I took of a real, peaceful blue place during a lovely day with friends. Hopefully this platform will be about connecting, not fighting.
