Trying it over here. Disabled and queer. Word tinkerer (in schools) and word tinkerer (not in schools). Never not thinking about Plastic Man.
honestly, sitting at concerts is definitely on the Family Feud board of 'top things about being in a wheelchair'.
My new old person hack is that sitting down for concerts is preferable, and you should just get a seat where you can do that. They’re usually cheaper too!

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

This is literally where I am.

I can understand the ACA decision, but the core goal of this shutdown was to try and assert some manner of "the executive branch will follow the goddamn law"

We didn't get that, at all.
Still upset about no power of the purse language. You truly do hate to see it. The Trump admin undertook the most expansive set of illegal budgetary actions of any president in history, and broadcast as loudly as possible they’d keep doing it, and nothing. Budgetary lawlessness.

look i have two republican senators and *I* just did this because good lord, what kind of party are we if we can't fight for our most exploited?
So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader

40 men Trump sent to CECOT tell the NYT they were beaten, tortured, and sexually assaulted. The details are worse than you can imagine.

We can’t let them get away with this. Miller and the other architects of this sadism need to go to prison.

It's unfathomably cruel, a kind of inhumanity that as a kid I must have thought impossible in the present tense, that you read about from Wiesel but imagine has gone out of the world.

Of course it hasn't. And our highest officials visit it for photo ops.

I don't think "the main idea of a text" is really even a remotely useful approach to teaching English and I'd strike it from state standards if I could.

"What does (x text/author/idea) reveal about (y text/author/idea)?" has always struck me as a far more useful and real question, even if trickier.

One thing that strikes me is just how fake all of our problems related to government are

The filibuster isn't in the Constitution, and every single Framer would be apoplectic that it exists.

The government shutdown was invented in 1980

The 9-justices limit was invented to stop the New Deal

the most fascinating thing about PLURIBUS on Apple TV, which I love so far, is that it's basically a post-9/11 GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, which is not a thing I knew could exist or would've known to want if it could.

the Republican party is a violent terrorist organization who wants to destroy this country. it has no place in the future of American politics. it must be entirely crushed, and the future of political disagreements in the near term is the left and right wings of the Dems.
