Shapiro: He rose to some prominence by writing a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there are a whole lot of people who get SNAP. He made millions of dollars off telling their stories, and then he turned his damn back on those very people he likes to write about and claim as his own.

What will it take for people to believe this is happening?
ICE isn’t going after the worst of the worst. This morning, they took a preschool teacher without a warrant IN FRONT OF CHILDREN in my district.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Never take seriously those who ridicule low income people for having a smartphone or laptop.

“If they’re so poor how did they buy an iPhone???”

Because they’re trying to escape poverty, not the 1700s, genius. If you think basic tech access is luxury, survive a month without it.

Trump’s not reacting to a new crisis. He’s reacting to his political needs: religion as a rallying flag, fear as fuel, and war threats as a show of dominance. It’s all authoritarian politics, just dressed up as divine mission.

For those asking why so many of us are focused on the SNAP situation and pushing to get the facts out… 42 million people losing access to food right before the holidays could cause chaos like this country’s never seen before. People deserve to know who’s really responsible.

I was in conservative churches for 28 years. Never heard a sermon on the duty to feed the poor, care for widows and orphans, visit prisoners, not even once. Rare appeals to donate to the Mission Board's Hunger Relief Program. Poverty was treated as a personal moral failing if not divine punishment.
