Hoping Dubón is a utility guy for us, and we still go after HSK (or barring that, make a trade for a better SS.)

If that's indeed the case, I like the deal. And I like that AA is busy early compared to most teams this offseason

Just saw the news that Iggy is coming back on a one year deal at the same price he got last year. I like it. He was solid in the 2nd half, and we still have this offseason & the season to find the long-term closer.

But for now, it's a major checkmark off the offseason shopping list. Now, sign HSK

Private equity firms ruin everything they touch
Hourly Walgreens employees will reportedly no longer receive paid time off for six major holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, after the pharmacy giant was acquired by private equity firm Sycamore Partners
Report: Walgreens cuts hourly workers’ pay for 6 major holidays
The hourly employees will only be paid if they work on those holidays.

And keep in mind that “criminal history” could be a 15-year-old DUI, which is what they used to deport a popular local restaurant owner with two American children in my town during Trump I. He employed 6 people and nothing has opened up in that space since.
DEVELOPING: The DOJs own data, provided as part of an ongoing lawsuit, appeared to show only about 2.5% of 614 people arrested by ICE on immigration violations in the Chicago area before Oct. 7 had criminal histories
Story here:

Only 2.5% on list of 614 ‘Operation Midway Blitz’ arrestees had criminal histories, DOJ records show
Meanwhile, the other 598 people on the list had no listed criminal history at all.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

@durbin.senate.gov made it infinitely easier for Senators to sue Jack Smith for trying to uncover their treason than for this man to sue ICE for pepper spraying his toddler.
Under Bivens, there is limited ability to sue ICE agents for unlawful uses of force and illegal searches. This makes the deal @durbin.senate.gov just cut that allows Senators to sue over far less all the more disgraceful.
Here’s video of federal agents doing a drive by pepper spraying that hit a father and his one-year old on Saturday when the Feds were hitting Little Village and Cicero

Schumer has appeased the fascists so much this year that, if we last long enough for history books to be written, he'll make goddamn Neville Chamberlain look like Simo Häyhä by comparison.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Step 1: We break Schumer's kneecaps. Put him in a wheelchair.

Step 2: We reenact the scene from "Mac and Me" that Paul Rudd loved trolling Conan O'Brien with...

Step 3: Finally! New leadership!

(Apologies in advance. Gallows humor as coping mechanism.)

My fave band is here *tomorrow* on their farewell tour, & I forgot it was coming up (bought my tickets the day it was announced. January maybe?)

Got 2 tix because I thought my long-distance gf would be here, but 2025 had different plans. Not sure whether to go solo or try to sell the tickets

One of my kids used to work at a Major Grocery Store deli, and they all rang up hot foods as cold for SNAP recipients.
If you work in a deli and can do this without losing your job, please do so.
Most people don’t know that with SNAP you are banned from buying “foods that are hot at the point of sale”. So even if you have SNAP (which people don’t now) you can’t get cooked food. Which means you need to also actually have the resources to PREPARE a “healthy” meal.
Thinking about the social stigma against eating fast food in a country where poor people are being starved by the govt, the cost of groceries and fresh vegetables are astronomical, and a cheeseburger at McDonald’s costs $3.50.

“Clean” and “healthy” eating rhetoric is racist, ableist, and classist.

- followed by 3 southern rock songs from the 70s
- then randomly, "My Shit's Fucked Up" by Warren Zevon 😂
