No team shoots themselves in the foot more. They continue to make things harder than they ever need to be. If Bregman wanted a NTC, you give it to him. Less deferred money, same thing. Then you have the player. Now you need to pivot like always and Craig is bad at doing so with signings.

Jayson Tatum has been, and will continue to be, basically a perfect NBA star from the moment he entered the league. The most professional, prepared, and low drama star imaginable.

I respect the notion of a “small Hall,” but prefer the idea of the Hall serving as a place that seeks to recognize the best - and most unforgettable - contributors of their time. I *want* to identify the players who were the best on the field - and don’t need apples-to-apples HOF standards to do so.

Starting pitchers are also getting treated like disposable juice boxes in the Icarus Era of pitching (max effort always - chase the sun until wings melt), making greatness harder to sustain. So, I care less about cumulative HOF stats than I do about peaks.

Some additional thoughts: Pedroia, Wright, and Felix (and Utley, to an extent) fall into an interesting realm of great peaks with precipitous declines. I recognize their steep descents are atypical for HOFers. But I’m increasingly uncomfortable with longevity precedents to frame votes.

For anybody wondering, AT&T Stadium put up blackout curtains for the Paul-Tyson fight (which is at night) just five days after the Cowboys lost a touchdown in the unblocked sun

Hi everyone.

The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars.

We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website.

We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off.

I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.
The Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of Bankruptcy
The satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.

Mike Emond was largely responsible for the All-Star Week vlog from Texas this past July, and everyone I showed that vlog to was extremely impressed with the production, shot quality and editing.

Now imagine that talent paired with a story to match.

Bluesky is built to make social more like the Web again, so we will never suppress links. Link to your writing, your art, your personal site — this is the social internet, designed from the ground up to be open and interoperable.
Hard to describe as a journalist how grateful I am to have a text-based app that does not suppress hyperlinks. I don’t know if people realize exactly how hostile the corporate internet has gotten toward news.
