As bad as it is I cannot believe that this even scrapes the surface of the full oppo on this guy and his pals. It’s political and journalistic malpractice if there aren’t teams of people out there digging for more…
You'll be amazed to discover that a bunch of anonymous people that Nigel Farage says definitely do exist, have confirmed that he didn't say any of the things that lots of other people say on the record that he absolutely did

"Keir Starmer did not create this problem — the damage done by the Conservatives cannot be overstated — but it is making matters worse."

Fantastic column by @robertshrimsley.bsky.social on the malaise in our politics and the road that we're on without a major change in approach:
Labour is slow-marching working people to populism

BREAKING NEWS

Over a third of Welsh Labour Senedd Members have written to Keir Starmer to stop undermining devolution.

They say:

"If this was being done by a Tory Government, we would be calling for a judicial review. This must never happen again."

It’s worse than a late-stage Soviet Politburo meeting. At those they probably had more debate and less ritualised ass-kissing of Dear Leader.

70% of the additional spending from removing the two-child limit will go to families who are in work. This is targeting support for low-income working households who are being priced out of a decent standard of living despite doing everything asked of them.

This Budget will show who the government is really for – and who it’s against. Our three tests:

1️⃣ Is it fair, asking more of those with the broadest shoulders?
2️⃣ Does it cut the cost of living?
3️⃣ Is it pro-growth and reassuring to markets?

Budget discourse has replaced Christmas discourse and I’m not sure it’s an improvement
I guess the one upside of the budget being this late, and it attracting about 84 years worth of coverage, is that I’ve entirely missed the “Christmas comes too early” discourse this year. And it’s tree time on Monday! So…silver linings?

Yes! @thetimes.com reporting the two child limit will go in full.

Every child should get a good start in life & families should have support to fall back on in tough times.

The result is lower child poverty and brighter futures.

Most of the kids benefitting (6 in 10) are in working families.

You might not have caught what just happened on the Senate floor, but the Senate just “deemed as passed” the Epstein resolution.

That means as soon as it arrives from the House, it automatically passes the Senate (with no amendments) and heads to the President’s desk.

Wow.

Maybe I’m getting old. But I can’t trust the AI and Crypto hype. We’re being conned yet again by the same types of snake oil salesmen who have no thought whatsoever for the damage they do - in fact they seem to think their damage is a virtue. But they’ll all expect a bailout when shit hits the fan.

‘Golden ticket’
Have been thinking about “immigration has been tearing this country apart.” Surely I’m not the only person to think that it isn’t true, but inflamed rhetoric about immigration by politicians is what is tearing this country apart and so statements like that only makes it worse.

Believe me we ‘love’ them maybe even more 🤦‍♂️
Would you like to guess how much I love charity annual reports which are published (even by the regulator) as scanned PDFs so you can't search in them?

‘We’ll see’. That’s the strategy? Are you kidding me? Is this for real? I really don’t understand. Are our Senators that unaware of or insulated from the seething fury from the Democratic Party base they’re about to be on the receiving end of? Do they not care, or do they just not get it?
Shaheen: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the govt is open to get this done. We've heard the same thing from the White House. So now we'll see if they're really gonna work w/us"

Absolutely. US media still haven’t learned this lesson. Presumably his claim has zero regulatory jurisdiction here? If the BBC caves it will only make their PR problems worse. And why should license payers pay for such a settlement?
Trump makes these threats because it leads to organisations making the risk-based calculation that settling for, say, $30m is better than the very small risk that he actually wins a $1bn payout in court.

Under no circumstances should the BBC cave on this.

BBC reporting on Trump isn’t that it’s biased against him. He incited an insurrection and is now trying to rewrite history, pardoning the violent criminals who took part. He’s bullying and extorting money from US media firms and now is trying it on here. British politicians shouldn’t stand for this.
