This article opens with a 3-year-old forced to represent herself in court. We live in a fundamentally sick country.
There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

More than a dozen undocumented minors were forced to make their case in front of an immigration judge as the Trump administration ramps up removal proceedings.

The Trump Administration extrajudicially executed Colombian fisherman Alejandro Carranzaas for alleged drug smuggling (without evidence), but pardoned right-wing ex-Honduran President JOH actually convicted of conspiring with drug cartels to traffic over 400 tons of cocaine into the United States.
If Juan Orlando Hernández was a poor fisherman accused without evidence of transporting illegal drugs by boat, the Trump Admin might blow him and his crew up without a trial. But because JOH is a former president of Honduras who shares Trump’s right-wing politics, he received a presidential pardon.

Laws aren't real. They exist solely on account of buy-in from society's participants. Once one side disengages, you no longer reside in a society based on laws. You live in a society based on power and armed force. I am begging folks to accept this so we can get moving.
Just legal Calvinball. Obviously lawless.

Really need to wrestle with:
1. When the AI bubble pops, and there's widespread economic destruction, it will lead to massive job loss; or
2. The AI is as good as advertised, in which case there's massive job loss and recession-like activity.

Both scenarios take us off a cliff.

The Trump admin's claim that it was targeting criminal aliens was always bullshit, and it's just hard for me to believe that most Americans don't know that. And assuming they do, this signals just how broken our society has become—it's a sick game we're playing.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Why would Trump pardon a DEMOCRAT indicted for BRIBERY? I don't know.

Please ignore the article below. It's unrelated and I don't know how to remove it.

a thing to ask yourself re: the GOP's electoral position is what could happen over the next year that could *improve* its position? and what could trump do, plausibly, that might *boost* his numbers with the public?

so to answer the question, what could improve their position is some sort of catastrophe that they can blame on minorities or some disadvantaged community that they will then promise to kidnap and torture and maybe kill, its all they have

He would have said the exact same thing about the Epstein discharge petition.

This guy is just allergic to doing the work of leadership, and messaging to shape public opinion.

His strengths are only living proximate to millionaires and billionaires to fundraise, then dole out funds to the caucus.
