“The opposite of diversity is uniformity. The opposite of equity is inequity. The opposite of inclusion is exclusion.” This is what it means. Whoever chooses uniformity, inequity, and exclusion needs to unfollow me.

Pete Buttigieg breaks down DEI for everyday folks…

Our problem: too many value uniformity over inclusion and they’re the ones running the government.

This video explains the eastward shift of Tornado Alley. While it’s focus is how MN is affected (I’ll use it with my HS students) & is from June 2024, I think it is timely given severe weather warnings in the SE United States today. Thinking of everyone who may be affected. youtu.be/LDqbQbwgCIY?...

Justin Trudeau showed more compassion to American citizens in his speech on March 4th than 47 did in his divisive speech to Congress. This speech was strong, clear, and impressive. He called it like it is. I wish we had a leader like Justin Trudeau. 🇨🇦 I wish for so many things right now.
Worth watching the whole speech. Fascinating how Trudeau simplifies his English when he addresses Donald directly…

I am protesting and abstaining. Are you?
A grassroots movement is calling on all Americans to abstain from shopping with major retailers tomorrow, February 28, as part of an “economic blackout.”

I encourage you to join. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/boycott

If don’t follow @altnps.bsky.social - you should. I started during # 45’s first time in office. Their coalition of members are within the federal system in different departments. They share info from direct sources affected. What sources do you follow to keep informed of during this 2nd Gilded Age?
Thank you to everyone who has joined the resistance! Our ranks grow stronger every day.

My new and improved Mineral Identification Lab what a blast for (me) my HS geology students today. Made it into a little competition and they nailed it. I should have made it harder - although only one group aced all 8 minerals. Prepping for Cu-Ni mining debate later next week.

I came to BlueSky for bluer skies and fresh air. Today’s feed makes me want to fly away. I get that it’s January 6th - I do - but why is BlueSky starting to feel like X for me? I tried to only follow geoscience, education, and Minnesota folks. Am I alone in this thinking?

01/04/24 is #Perihelion, when Earth is closest to the Sun. #Aphelion is in early July when Earth further from the Sun. Earth’s orbit is an ellipse - so the Earth is closer to the Sun one time a year. Earth’s tilted axis that gives us our seasons, not the distance from the Sun.

The hottest - so far -
The latest data from NOAA sends a powerful message: November 2024 was the second-warmest month in 175 years of record-keeping, and there is a 99% chance that 2024 will be the hottest year ever recorded. This is a stark reminder of the growing impact of climate change on our planet.
