The movement of the aurora(s) is something I've only seen once. Fascinating. Our beautiful sky -- even on an "avg." night... glorious.
If you are interested in tracking substorm (bursts of auroral activity which can result in a nice show), check my blog articles on
1. What is a substorm? and
2. How to use the GOES manetometers to track substorm activity.

What is an auroral substorm?
Substorm patterns are crucial to understand for any aurora chaser. They are what make the aurora "explode" and dance in the sky. Learn more in this article!

Go, Colorado Rep. Jason Crow - Courage. Thank you.
The President of the United States just called for my arrest and execution.

In these moments, fear is contagious, but so is courage:

Chicago. 2025. Shooting at peoples' heads with non-lethal 'projectiles' could cause a brain injury, yes? And they're laughing?
Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Last of the summer to autumn flowers before they froze. After freeze, sunlight still catches color through them. Left everything up for winter birds. Will be watching their progress...

Truly awful...
There’s a disturbing lack of outrage over ICE’s aggressive tackling and arrest of a non verbal autistic man in Chicago.

Just like the lack of outrage over Rodney Taylor, a disabled double amputee who’s been held in solitary for months.

Disabled lives matter too!
Disabled People are Being Mistreated in ICE Detention Facilities
Why is no one talking about it? Where's the media? Where's the public outcry? Another example of the pervasive nature of ableism and how society views disabled people as expendable.

It's crystal clear. From the beginning. You can not trust someone who threatens people to get what they want for themselves.
Trump's tariffs are hurting us in two ways:

First, the obvious: Higher costs → either lower profits or higher prices.

Second, more subtle (perhaps bigger): We’ve signaled we’re an unreliable partner, so allies are reorganizing supply chains to avoid us. That's hard to unwind.

Well, well, well... interesting.
The US is the world's largest oil and gas producer. Yet, "China is now making more money from exporting green technology than America makes from exporting fossil fuels."
China’s clean-energy revolution will reshape markets and politics
The world’s biggest manufacturer now has an interest in the world decarbonising

Exactly.
A government that arrests its own citizens, lies to courts, and shreds the Fourth Amendment isn’t “protecting” anyone—it’s declaring war on the Constitution. ICE isn’t keeping us safe; it’s proving how fragile freedom becomes when truth no longer matters.

We need health care for all. We need a congress that supports health care for all. M. Johnson should be suspended without pay & brought up on ethics charges.
Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 95th day out of the last 107.

12 days of work in 107 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

And so much more...
Oh, you simple-minded, wheezing gargoyle . . . you were very much on the ballot. You are blamed for the shutdown. You are blamed from SNAP shutting down. You are blamed for a bad economy. And numerous people interviewed last night mentioned that seeing the East Wing destroyed motivated them to vote.

... "arresting people for filming agents attacking their neighbors." ...
NEW: Senator Durbin and I are demanding that Kristi Noem put a stop to DHS arresting people for filming agents attacking their neighbors.

How dare DHS call foul play while it uses taxpayer dollars to record propaganda videos?

It is legal to record. It's called accountability.

Good to know... Australia has a good benefits system!
America is so far behind many developed countries of the world. In Australia the minimum wage is $24.95 per hour and our public health system looks after all Australians. We also have an amazing pharmaceutical benefits scheme. We are so lucky we have a government that is focussed on its people.

Yes.
The top three things Jesus was on about were feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and welcoming the stranger. Rich men have convinced so-called Christians to starve the hungry, gut health care, and deport the stranger to enrich themselves. It’s astoundingly anti-Christ.

Go, renewable energy! We have solar & put off the next investment of batteries (as we're on the grid with our electric co-op). This article helps me see the importance of storage for peak use times. Thanks!
"Appalachian Power... is proposing more than a 20% reduction in electricity costs... The reason... is a combination of lower fuel costs and greater adoption of renewable energy". Clean energy = cheap energy, because if you don't burn fuel, you don't pay for fuel. cardinalnews.org/2025/11/03/l...
Letting the market lead: How cost-effective renewables can save consumers money
Solar energy systems, especially when paired with battery storage, can produce low-cost power during peak hours, when electricity is most expensive on the wholesale market. Batteries can then store…
