It's not a rip off, it's original, East Asian horror has commonalities but we are distinct cultures and need to be seen as such. This is especially important for Chinese creativity, I'm still having to fight the 'copycat' stereotype.

Whenever people diss the romance genre or act as if it is by definition second-rate, I think about how genuinely difficult it is to write a truly effective (and non wince-inducing) consensual sex scene (whether cute, fun, passionate, tragic, comedic, horny, moving, etc). Especially an explicit one.
